Default Blade Runner Commercial....More Evidence WB is going Blu-ray Only?

I've seen the Blade Runner Final Cut commercial a couple of times and at the end they always say "Own it Tuesday on DVD and Hi-Def" and then show the SD DVD and the Blu Ray box art. This is suspect for three reasons:

1)For other Warner releases, like 300, they would show all three boxes.
2)Red is more of a match to the Blade Runner cover color scheme and makes the HD DVD box art look better than the Blu Ray box art, so why would Warner pick the worse looking Hi Def box art to put on a commercial if they were only going to show one?
3)There is pretty much no cost difference between showing 2 boxes and 3 boxes. The last frame just needs the HD box inserted.

I saw that lastnight and was thinking the same thing. Then, I was thinking how they've pressed all those HD DVD's and probably want them to sell just as much as they want the Blu's to sell.
Still, it caught my eye as well.

This just in: Warner's VP of home video was seen wearing a blue tie yesterday! I think this mean's they're going blu-ray exclusive.

Very nice info. "Curious" to say the least. All of the signs are pointing towards an exclusive commitment to blu-ray. This movie is on my buy list anyways

i think wb is trying to send subtle hints, thats my personal opinion, with execs and insiders saying the things they are, i think it makes sense, that they are trying to prep the HD crowd for whats going to happen (in less than 45 days) There has never been a WB commercial where just blu-ray was featured and hd dvd was not, the timing of the first time this occurs is too coincidental.

If you are making reference to the CES, then you mean in about 3 weeks so around 21 days ...
45 days would take us to the end of January. Something special about the end of January ?

What's funny is that right after I read this thread, I went to Rotten Tomatoes and the banner ad is for Blade Runner and it only shows the BD cover art, not even SD. ZING!!!

personally, i don't think WB is going to go exclusive during CES, i think it will come before or after CES. If it is after, I think it will be very heavily implied that "things are changing" by WB at CES, just no official announcement. to avoid looking like an ass if it is after CES, I covered my basis and said 45 instead of 15 (which is also a good possiblity.

Rotten Tomatoes is totally pro hd-dvd. in their section where they "explain" Highdef, they only mention hd-dvd.

At my Best Buy we haven't received a single copy of the HD-DVD for Blade Runner but we do have about 4 copies of it on Blu-Ray. I don't know if this is a sign of what is going to happening or already has happened with WB going BD exclusive, but I do like the fact that we have 0 DUD copies of it

This makes me really happy when I started to support blu-ray back in November of 06, When i brought my playstation 3. No way in hell I was going to support HD-DUD, I knew they where doomed from the start.

Rotten Tomatoes is owned by ign.com, ign.com is very heavily biased towards the xbox 360, what does that tell you in regards to who is financing rotten tomatoes? our favorite company is sponsoring the site

Again, I don't want to be the spoil sport, but Warner did this same thing when 300 came out. There were two commercials. One for HD-DVD and one for Blu-Ray. Something tells me there is an HD-DVD commercial out there as well.
