Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal. Everest is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the film was shot on location in Nepal on the foothills of Everest, the Italian Alps and at Cinecittà Studios.

I enjoyed this movie immensely. Not your usual hollywood horsesh!t, this is based on a true story and I remember distictly when this actually happened so I have a particular interest in the tale.

I've heard the 3D is stunning on this one, unfortunately while my projector's in storage, to save money I've sworn to vanilla versions only...

I'm in the process of reviewing this release. Rented the 2D disc, and wound up buying the 3D release today in the 20% off sale.

Great transfer, some nice extras. And a fine movie. Well worth picking up.

I fully respect this effort, I wasn't ready for the real depiction of watching someone die slowly, I cried as did 3/4s of the theater.

I agree not your usual hollywood overload.

Very hard to watch in places, but a fantastic movie.

The visuals were superb but did not overshadow some great performances, notably from Jason Clarke and Emily Watson.

Tragic story, very good movie.

Not sure how BDinfo identifies an Atmos soundtrack browny but it does state English True Atmos on the back of the case.

BDInfo pre-dates Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, so it can only read the core tracks. Apparently, the French and German dubs are also Dolby Atmos, just via Dolby Digital Plus (i.e. not lossless) so if you have Dolby Atmos capability, your system would read all three tracks as Dolby Atmos.

I don't really understand the concept of non-lossless Atmos (just as I don't understand object-based audio for streaming), but there it is.

I mentioned in another area that the Everest 2D and 3D covers here share the same image. I must have been mistaken, as I saw it in stores again today and the New Zealand 2D cover has this image:



I could have sworn it was the same as the 3D.. my mistake.
