Post PS3 doesn't play Windows/Mac OS DVD-ROM extras

I have owned my 60GB PS3 since January '07, and have used it extensively to watch movies on DVD and Blu-ray. That's not to say I don't play games on it, It just happens that it replaced my old DVD player because it is so darn good at it. I play games a lot.

So, if on the box it says it supports DVD-Rom, why does it not work? I've tried several DVD's, and know it does not work. I haven't found a Blu-ray yet (If you have, please tell me the title so I can try it) that is online enabled for special stuff, so I can't vouch for that either way.

I just know that on any DVD (Such as the one I just watched, "The Bourne Identity" Explosive Extended Edition), if it says DVD-Rom features, and I click them, the screen always comes up telling me to insert it in a Windows DVD-Rom drive ('95 or higher, ha). I have no other problems with my PS3 at all, just the false advertising part that is on my box right here (Shouldn't require a firmware update if it is on the box).

It's not like DVD-Rom features are all that exciting, and I know this forum is called "Blu-ray", but you guys are smart, tech-junkies, and I'm sure it's been discussed at some point on the forum (Did a search on the forum, couldn't find anything, maybe I wasn't searching with the right terms). Just wanted to hear your thoughts on it.
