![]() ![]() If there's already a thread I couldn't find it by searching. Just watched the first four episodes. Did not expect it but this show is BRILLIANT! Rachel Bloom is sublime. It's hilarious and clever. So, so, so good. Glad I finally started it. |

I actually just started watching it over the weekend as well. Got through the first 7 episodes. It's too bad the title is so off-putting, because I'm sure people have/will dismiss it just for that. But it's definitely a clever and funny show. Considering the ratings, it's surprising that they gave it another 5 episodes.... I wonder if it can survive past this season. I suppose Bloom's Golden Globe win doesn't hurt its chances though, just like the awards are seemingly keeping Jane the Virgin afloat.
This is now the sixth (!!!!) current CW show that I'm following, after Arrow, Flash, Jane the Virgin, iZombie, and Legends of Tomorrow, which makes it by far the network with the most shows I'm following. Never would I have expected that to happen just a few years ago. |

It's funny because CW shows always look like they will be dumb (this one, Jane The Virgin) but they have some real gems. When it started I didn't think it would be long before it was canceled with those ratings, but I'm so glad CW has stuck with it. I think with the reviews and Bloom's Golden Globe win they might actually stick with it and give it another season. Hopefully it can catch on. If they don't renew it I could totally see Netflix or Hulu or someone swooping in and saving it. It's too good to not get rescued, IMO.

Looks like no BD release for this, which I wasn't expecting anyway... but the DVD release is going to be MOD through Warner Archive, so they could've just made a BD release while they were at it lol

Yeah, I agree, it's a legitimately great show, perhaps even the best show on the CW right now. (Though I think I'm more partial to iZombie.)
It seems that Gabrielle Ruiz (Valencia) has been upgraded to regular for this upcoming season, which I think is a good thing. Her character has been the only character that has remained kinda one-dimensional throughout the show. The show has done a great job at turning stereotypes on their heads, but she basically hasn't moved beyond being the stereotypical mean and manipulative girlfriend. I'm hoping they'll make her more of her character in her own right, and humanize her a bit more. |

This season has been off to a great start.
I'm kinda shocked that Greg left the show, but I think they did a great job with his character. He had an organic, if somewhat abrupt, exit. It seems like they'll finally be able to give Heather a bigger part in the story, which is good, given that she had seemed kinda pointless until now. Also glad to see Valencia back this week! |

![]() I think shortening it, while it means less which is bad, also means they can put more into the episodes they have. The "tap that ass" bit was hilarious to me. |

From what I read, he was only contracted for the first season, so I'm just glad he was able to come back to give his character closure. He seems open to returning down the line, and I'd imagine he'd at least come back for a guest spot at some point (if the show survives beyond this season).
I really did like his character, but his character ended up in a really great place compared to where he began, so I'm actually pretty happy with the way they wrote him out. I guess Valencia is essentially his replacement in terms of the main cast, but I actually wouldn't mind White Josh and Hector getting bigger roles going forward as well. |

Great finale! I was finding myself laughing so much, yet feeling genuinely sad throughout the episode.
Overall, I thought this was a great season that pretty much maintained the high bar set in the first season. One thing I really liked about this season was how they revealed to us that Josh has just as many "underlying issues to address" as Rebecca does. There were a lot of parallels between the actions of Rebecca and Josh throughout the season, namely in the form of terrible, unhealthy choices. Great set-up for next season, and I am so glad the show was renewed for a third season! (I recall Rachel Bloom saying that they have envisioned this as a four season show, so I hope it can get its full four season run.) |

Yeah I think they stepped it up in season 2, and I thought season 1 was great. The finale kind of foreshadowed what was going to happen though.
There was a part in the flashback [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] Or Cappie... er, Kristoff... I mean, Nathaniel.
