Default MPEG-2 Transport and Program Streams

I have all the Star Wars movies as MPEG-2 Transport Streams. They are 1080i with AC-3 sound and yuv420p color space. Is it possible to play this format on the PS3?

Also there is the problem of transfering them to the PS3 as they are ~9 GB in size and I believe the FAT filesystem only supports a max file size of 4 GB.
I was thinking of using the Apache web server on my Mac, but I seem to remember that there is a file size limit there, too.

Has anybody attempted to do something similar?

If I were to transcode the files to AVC what are the most optimal settings for bitrate etc.? Would it be better to transcode to 720p or leave it at 1080i?

Your best bet is to simply split it into multiple files, and then create a playlist. Yes FAT has a 4GB limit

I'm wondering the same thing, especially regarding a MAC utility to stream ANY media to the PS3?
