I'm wondering how long they've had this in the works. I'm assuming they've been working on it for a while, but waited to post the announcement until after the Awards ceremony.

Because there's just simply not enough time to see that this film won, and somehow contact the studio for permission the same night.

Sorry I'm unfamiliar with Blu Collection. Is that who creates the Steenbok? And then it's realized through like KimchiDVD or something?

Must've gotten the permission but decided to keep it quiet unless/until it won Best Picture. I wonder if they'd even be doing a Steelbook if it didn't win Best Picture.

I loved this movie but am happy with the standard NA release. Would have to be some really incredible art to get me thinking about a purchase (I got my current copy mad cheap so maybe I could be swayed )

Correct. Blu Collection is the design/packaging.

KimchiDVD and Nova have been the retailers.
However KimchiDVD has released all of the steelbooks as part of their line of exclusives (Eternal Sunshine and Whiplash are two that come to mind) and the steelbooks have not been available at any other retailer.

I watched this film last weekend and absolutely liked it. I may buy it but for me it is a one viewing film only.

A little too much text on the front cover for my liking, but it looks nice otherwise.

I thought it would be cool if the full slip has like a newspaper print design and texture.

The back is incredible, the front and inside are solid. Wish there was a little more color but oh well.
