Just finished DL of 2.1 FW. There is a new folder under Video labeled BD Data Utility. My guess is that has something to do with 1.1 Profile, ie. the 256 MB of local storage. Also there is a Dynamic Range setting that says it enhances dialogue when DD is output with Linear PCM. Also, Type 3 Bitmapping under the CD settings.

Dynamic Range setting is a correction actually. You can't apply DR on a PCM signal, but on a DD yes, what it does is it apply it as it decode it to PCM.

It help if you're in appartement and want to watch stuff late...

Supposed to, it only state DD, does it mean all DD codec (because all DD codec have that option). I guess you'll have to try it to test it

Finished downloading, took about 8-10 minutes. Its nice to know that I got a profile 1.1 PS3!

Just installed it. It didn't take very long by wireless connection. I was surprised. It took what seemed like forever to get to 29% or so and then just tore through the rest.

yeah mine is going SUPER slow... its taken about a good 10 minutes to get to 6%....

my buddy dl'd his insanely quick though... i mean he started his 3 minutes after me and is already down and installed it and im sitting here at 7% lol... i dont get it...

he also said something about not seeing anything saying profile 1.1 as part of the dl...

ok i'm stupid, what TANGIBLE benefits do we get with 1.1?? i looked through the newbie posts and don't see any threads on this. i read that the new BD's (3:10 Yuma) are 1.1, so does that mean the update gives us the ability to play them (ie. we didn't have that ability before the update)??? what about the BD's we've been watching?? is PQ/SQ better?? sorry, i'm dumb

When will it become available for download to a pc? My home is on verizon pc cards and I don't have the ps3 on internet anymore.
