Default Doing my part

Well this week everyone at my company was offered a "gift" to chose from a list of tech items. some of the items included were a blu-ray player a, HD-DUD player, and iTouch, widescreen monitors, digital camera, etc. etc. Everyone here in the office expected me to go for the HD-DUD player since I've been doing nothing but talk about BD since I got my playstation but they were wrong. As much as I'd love to own and see Transformers in HD, something I am still very bitter about, I decided to keep the faith an get the camera instead.

It would have been just as effective if you took the HD-DVD player so that someone else didn't get it and start buying HDDVD titles. Safer in the hands of a Blu fan.

Unless the Blu-ray player was decent and decoded DTS-HD MA, I might have chosen the HD-DVD player. (I know! The horror!)

I would then have found an uncluttered desk and proceeded to dismantle it. For surely at least there is something interesting inside..

I would have taken the Blu-Ray player and used it on another TV in the house or given it away as a Christmas gift.

lol, There is so much talk on this board about how we can get blu to win this war but it seems that everyone responding to my post is telling me i should have supported HD-DUD and got the player. Am I missing something here? I guess some people on here just DON'T wanna win this war after all.

Yes you did. What sphdle1 is trying to say is: if you took the hd-dvd player, than there would have been 1 less consumer buying those red discs. Since you are blu, you wouldn't buy the red disc.

yes i suppose i could have went that way but i see it as if you buy the player you are supporting as well. anyway, i got the better deal going with the camera.

You did great. I would have done this though:

My turn to pick the gift, I would have said out-loud - Nah, I'm not picking the DUD player because its about to go obsolete. And everyone else would have wonder why/how? and it would have been the last gift standing... LOL

Exactly.

Also, the OP showed his true colors during the holiday of "GIVING". Instead of doing the right thing and taking the blu ray player and then gifting it to someone else to promote blu and certainly some attach rates behind it, he chose to help himself first.

Sorry.....thats not how I roll.
