Default The Adventures of Baron Munchausen - BD release?!

Amazon seems to think so....

Plus if you visit this page you can maybe help choose the cover art.

Baron is a Sony title it would seem. So this one would be BD exclusive.

I was just thinking about this movie the other day, and then this news pops up. I am overjoyed. I absolutely love this movie. Very underrated.

There was a Criterion edition laserdisc-only release that came out many years ago, with a ton of bonus features and deleted scenes etc. I imagine that much of those features (and then some) will be included on this new version. (In addition to the Blu-Ray, it looks like this will also be a regular DVD 2-disc special edition.) Anyway, I've preordered the BD, and am anxiously awaiting April 8.

Oddly enough I almost never read the news page.

Those preordering might want to be careful since the page I linked has the same link for DVD and BD if you look carefully so it would seem that Amazon screwed up the BD pre-order link...

Cover art 2 looks so much better. Why is everyone picking 3?

I honestly don't love any of the three choices. But I did go with #3, which I thought was the least ugly, and the most creative of the bunch.

But personally, I wish they'd go with the original theatrical release poster. This is the one I remember seeing, back in early 1989:

(I was one of the few Americans who was lucky enough to see this when it briefly came out in theaters.)

Sadly, it's not one of the 3 options.

Speaking of Terry Gilliam films, and I liked Baron a lot, I would also like to see his 12 monkeys on BD, but according to wikipedia, Unniversal has the rights to the US.

What a shame, cause those 2 would definitely be in my collection!

Brazil is a brilliant film. Munchausen - not so much, IMHO, though I'm clearly the minority in this thread. You haven't seen Brothers Grimm?

Option 3 is the only one with a touch of class, although the yellow is kinda fugly.

Can't wait to see Baby Sarah Polley again.

This is one of my favorite movies!

I got is as a gift on VHS (both Munchausen and the Ray Harryhausen Jason and the Argonauts were given to me -- Jason is another one I'd love on BR) when I was younger and it was probably the first real Terry Gilliam movie I saw (that I can remember; I probably saw Time Bandits at some point, on TV or something). I've been a Terry Gilliam fan ever since and many of his movies are in my all time favorites (Baron Munchausen being my favorite of his).

I also really like the option 3 cover art... it should look good on the BR case and it was the most appealing to my eyes -- the other two looked a bit too generic (although neither are bad... I'd be happy with any of them, really).

Will this cover be an amazon exclusive or are SPE letting amazon voters choose the cover for everyone? If it's an amazon exclusive, then I think I'll have to buy two copies (I need all the covers!)
