Australia Blade Runner - 2012 Blu Ray edition

This version of Blade Runner has some confusing packaging... it doesn't say The Final Cut anywhere on the cover but mentions having the Introduction to the Final Cut as an extra feature. So is it the Final Cut with misleading packaging, or the Theatrical cut?

I think the cover image is wrong.

I'm sure i've seen this particular cover in stores, and it has Final Cut written on the front.

The User who submitted the cover image, has a very extensive history of submitting incorrect entries into the Database.

I've seen it recently and I don't recall seeing "Final Cut" mentioned. I'll double-check if it's still there next time. I already have the original 2-disc edition but I'd pay $5 for the theatrical cut just to laugh at the awful voiceover.

Pretty sure all releases (except the 5 disc version) are Final or Director's Cut and do not have the theatrical cut.

Well, I may have confirmation of that soon enough. The packaging is probably a Warner Bros scheme to make people think they're getting a different version though.

Huh interesting. Way too many releases of Blade Runner then should have just kept with the 5-Disc release.

I have it in my collection and it doesn't say Final Cut on the cover but it does say Final Cut (2007) on the disk so yes this is the Final Cut with misleading packaging

I believe THE FINAL CUT (extended, tweaked, and uncensored) has been the version delivered on all single-feature Blu-ray releases of BLADE RUNNER since it was first released a few years back.

Mine's the two-disk release with the crappy alternative artwork. I prefer the cover shown in the OP's link below, which came out a bit later, or concurrently and I was just unlucky.

Default Blade Runner - 2012 Blu Ray edition

I contacted Roadshow yesterday about this being released locally on 4K UHD Blu-ray, and this was their response:

I think that's the final cut OP.

That cover art is a lot better than this one, from 2011...

Awful photoshop job! Makes it look like some cheap action film, not the genre-bending, artistic masterpiece it is.

I don't know why studios don't just go with the poster art. If they wish to change it, at least put some effort and art into it.

All those "Platinum Collection" covers are ugly as hell. I've got the original Final Cut with the full-colour cover, might order the 5-disc edition eventually.

Well, I've got those versions of 300 and The Hangover just because that was what was available at the time... they just look cheap with all that blank white space, which kind of defeats the purpose. It's cool that they reverted to the original master of The Departed. I didn't know about that when I upgraded from the lossy disc, so I nabbed a $10 copy of the UK version instead. Same video transfer and extras, just DTS-HD-MA instead of PCM

For those that haven't been following the local release schedule thread, the local release date for Blade Runner on 4K UHD Blu-ray has changed from the 6th of September to the 20th of September, according to Roadshow. I've asked Roadshow how many discs will be included with the local 4K UHD version of Blade Runner, I'm just waiting on a response. I also asked them whether these titles will be release in Australia on 4K UHD Blu-ray later in the year:

Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
Interstellar
Inception
Gravity
The Matrix
The Departed

Their B2B lists 2 discs for this one... presumably 1 UHD and 1 Blu-ray...

Checked all those titles too and got nothing.... not even Gravity, which was previously in their database.....

I remember the discussion of the inaccuracy of the colour timing for The Dark Knight on these boards maybe 6 years ago? I believe comparisons of the Joker's hair colour being green instead of yellow was one instance.

having just finished watching this movie about a half hour ago, I was thinking a 4k release would be fabulous and it would be interesting to see if criticisms are remedied.

Interstellar Oh boy, gimme!.
