Star Trek Screen Voyages DIRECTOR'S EDITION Blu-ray

Please petition to Paramount Pictures to release the classic Star Trek movies on BD in the Director's Edition.

I have e-mailed them a few times. I want them to use the correct posters.

If you want them to even consider it then get everyone you can to buy Wrath of Khan Directors Edition, the only thing that will factory into their decision making is money not a petition.

Agreed. It's just unfortunate that Paramount picked the one movie in the series they had already restored and that everyone was already mostly content with to use at its tester. But whatever. I'll buy this in the hopes that they will decide to figure out a way to release a HD version of the Director's Edition of TMP.

I don't think rebuying WOK when the current version is good enough for most people will make them re-do the other films. I didn't work with DS9 and Voyager with people buying TNG on blu ray.

Exactly if TNG had sold more perhaps it might have made a difference but seems like most people just waited for it to drop in price and it was the nail in the coffin for more remasters.

I would probably buy a new complete 1 to 6 set again but I don't want to end up buying WOK 3 times.

But then they would not have had the opportunity to smugly proclaim that they are glad to have waited.

To be fair I am frugal movie collector and have my ideal price points for various things but when a company provides a substantial product for the price, especially in comparison to past releases, I will pick it up.

TNG remasters were worth it to me around the $60 or less price point. Clearly the mileage varied for others but I am definitely of the thought that CBS should have simply banked the past profits into remastering the entire franchise rather than being reliant on solely the disc sales. Over several years they would have made their money back from streaming deals.

Problem is that isn't exactly true. Paramount has their ideas of what is successful and what isn't. Why isn't Undiscovered Country getting the same treatment? When it comes to these films, Khan is the gem so it is the only one that gets considered for anything like this. The petition is a good idea as it shows fans want the rest as well but in the end, these are in the Paramount catalogue and they know the fans will buy anything the put out there - that's why they are going yet another sd dvd release of TNG along with the Blu-ray. To be blunt, Paramount is cheap when it comes to Trek. Probably the only reason Khan is getting this kind of treatment is because they had no other choice with the negative being in such bad condition so they decided they might as well try and make money off of having to remaster it. I am like everyone else, I would love to see new versions and director's/extended cuts but Trek is a business now and I quit thinking Paramount cares a long time ago.

Fans have already paid for the remasters from the BILLIONS they have ploughed into Paramount/CBS's coffers over the years.

You all make good points. Still I feel we the fans should make Paramount know what we want and how it should be done right. This year Star Trek celebrates 50 years and they SHOULD do this now.

It's listed as 132 minutes. Which I think is the original runtime, wasn't the DC 136?
