Blue Swan/Eagle Pictures will release Robert Carlyle's The Legend of Barney Thomson (2015) on Blu-ray in Italy on 22 June 2016.

NOTE: It seems that previous releases issued by the label/sub-label lue Swan have been 1080/50i when they should be 1080p. This is very distressing, as in the case of The Legend of Barney Thomson, this film was released on DVD-only by Icon in the UK last year, and has a multi-territory Universal Pictures European release, which so far has appeared in the Nordic territories (and will be releasing in Germany next week), as DVD-only. This film is a Canada/UK co-production, and the only Canadian listings seem to be for English and French-jacketed Canadian DVDs arriving on June 14th, 2016. The U.S. "release" is being handled by Gravitas Ventures, a company that does not work with high-profile films, and so far, they have only made it available digitally. I cannot find a U.S. Blu-ray for a film recently released by Gravitas, and the company has distribution deals with Anchor Bay, but also, the Kiss of Death label, so, in short, I would not expect a U.S. Blu-ray, unless you want to buy a coaster (i.e. a BD-R).

The only other hope, beyond this release, is Australia, where the film is also distributed by Icon, and where it seems to be scheduled for a later 2016 release.

An apparent BDInfo scan of this disc has just surfaced online, and, as feared, this appears to be 1080/50i, but someone will need to confirm:
