I mentioned in another thread that since the rumours of a new PS4 coming later this year a few of my friends have decided not to get the PSVR, choosing to get the new PS4 instead.
I wondered what the general consensus would be if it was asked to a larger group of people, and Psybits made the very good suggestion of creating a poll! ![]() So here we are, Were you planning on getting a PSVR? Did you change your mind once you heard about a new more powerful PS4? Or did it not make a difference in your choice or maybe you will get both? Take the poll and feel free to elaborate in a post below! |

I doubt our forum will accurately portray the public view on this at all, but yeah, I might be getting a Neo instead of a psvr. Really, though, it's mostly because I want to get my brother a PS4 and the easiest thing to do would just be to give him mine and pick up a Neo for myself (well, that's how I'll justify it anyway

Definitely the Neo and I'm not planning on getting the PSVR
The VR seems like a cool thing to try on quickly, or at a demo, but I really don't want to be wearing that set for hours just to play games. I personally prefer to play game on a TV. Seems more like a cool feature I would try on from time to time, nothing more. With the Neo, atleast I know I'll be getting improved performance, textures, resolution and frame rate. I think they have the possibility of pushing 1080p at 60fps for the new games if it has something slightly better than the GTX 960. The VR seems to be in a similar place as smart watches. A group of people will buy it and enjoy it, but most will use their phones. |

Yeah, I'm still getting the PSVR. ..thinking back I did buy the Move and PS Vita...so it might just be me LOL ![]() As long as Sony makes good with their promise that it will work properly, albeit not at optimal, with the vanilla PS4. |

Yeah that's the important thing, to continue to support it even if it's not a huge seller. Keep the customers who bough it happy and their brand will continue to be perceived better by the public.

Definitely getting a Neo, since I don't own a PS4 yet.
I'll see how exclusives shake out on the PSVR, since I suspect a high-end PC will offer a much better VR experience for multiplatform titles. |

When the PSVR offers stereo 3D and the price drops by half, I'll be very interested provided the gaming library has proven itself as larger with quality games and plenty of open world games for VR.
Backward compatibility with older games would really sell me to buy one. I'd play Fallout 4 for example using the PSVR headset to control the right analog camera to look around. I hope they have plans for that type of thing combined with the PS camera. The Neo PS4 doesn't interest me. It's not even 3 years in and already they're suggesting the PS4 isn't good enough and being replaced with an upgraded console for $399. For new gamers, it's an absolute buy, but for those who choose not to own two of the same console, it's not worth spending another $424+ dollars with tax for a few improvements. Good news is, the games will be compatible with the older PS4 and the Neo PS4. At least I hope that's the plan for all developers. |

I thought about bringing that up, but since their release windows are different and farther apart than the (supposed) release of the Neo and PSVR that wallet planning wouldn't be as straining in comparison.
I want the NX as well if its backward compatible to the WiiU since I will be skipping the WiiU altogether now that the NX has been announced. But if the NX were to be released this holidays then I definitely would not be able to buy more than 1 piece of hardware and 1 will have to wait. (If the NX is not backwards compatible, then I will be playing the waiting game on it like I did with the WiiU until a must have game for me comes out for it. Off Topic: The XB1 has had so many sales now where you could've had it cheaper than a WiiU, I feel like Nintendo is not trying very hard to sell their console. And now with the NX announcement, I'm even less motivated to get a WiiU. If only they dropped the price to $250 last year, with a sale here and there that would drop it to $200, I would've gotten one already, but at this point I wouldn't even buy it for $200. /rant) Last edited by Psybits; 05-14-2016 at 04:46 PM. |
