88 Films Italian Collection Restoration Project (indiegogo)

Following on from the success of 2014’s remaster Zombie Holocaust and Burial Ground fan-funding project we’re back with a much more ambitious project...

This time the ultimate goal is to remaster 4 classic Italian exploitation films in 2K resolution!

Absurd (1981), Dir Joe D'Amato
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (1985), Dir Michele Massimo Tarantini
Aenigma (1987). Dir Lucio Fulci
Beyond the Darkness (1979), Dir Joe D'Amato

HOWEVER this will be a very expensive project so we need YOUR help.
Organising a project like this is always a big gamble and this time we want you to join in the gamble…..

So here’s the plan.

Goal 1: We raise £10,000 and the (video) nasty Absurd absolutely, definitely gets remastered in 2K resolution from the original 35mm negative, uncut and uncensored.

Goal 2: We raise £20,000 and and the gut-munching Massacre in Dinosaur Valley gets remastered in 2K resolution from the original 35mm negative, uncut and uncensored.

Goal 3: We raise £30,000 and the creepy Aenigma gets remastered in 2K resolution from the original 35mm negative, uncut and uncensored.

Goal 4: We raise £40,000 and the gore filled Beyond the Darkness gets remastered in 2K resolution from the original 16mm negative, uncut and uncensored.

Here's the gamble:

If we hit Goal 1 you get the perks from your pledge, Absurd gets remastered in amazing quality and hopefully you’re a happy bunny BUT if you can get all your mates involved and make this Fanfund something special and somehow we hit Goal 2, 3 and 4 then you also get all the same perks for these other films having only pledged once!! So the more we can raise the more YOU GET, your pledge effectively gets CHEAPER!! and who doesn't love a bargain.....

Ok, we're keeping this really simple this time

Level 1. This is £45 which includes postage and packaging.

Level 1 is unlimited isn't it? Almost 10k raised in a day I'm starting to worry! Two weeks until payday.

I would have liked Beyond the Darkness as perk 2 but that Massacre in Dinosaur Valley slip is bloody lovely

I've still got to pledge, but £10,000 is now so close. I'm presuming for any goals that aren't hit, we won't receive the other Blu-rays, even in their unrestored state

I'll be pledging as and when it gets close to the £20k mark.

If the last two stretch targets aren't met then I can justify £45 for two movies to myself. £45 for one though is a tough sell.

Can't see it being a problem though, I'd be amazed if it doesn't reach £20k, especially as it's a good way there already.

Posted this in the 88 thread but will repost here for more views. Looks like a possible glitch with the Indiegogo counter:

Guys, I think there may be something going on with the counter on the Indiegogo page. Just noticed the the total dropped from 19,224 to 19,179.

Also, last night when I checked the count was 18,904 and this morning it's at 19,179 (only 275 GBP difference), even though if you look at the list of backers there was over 500 GBP pledged since that time.

I might be that people have had payments declined from their bank or what have you.

Seems like there has been a little bit of a lull in the past days but it's to be expected with fundraisers like this. I think once many people receive their paycheques the total will increase and near the end there is also always a surge by last minute funders. I predict the 30k goal 3 will be met, goal 4 would be a bonus.

We've had several people pledge and then request a refund a few hours later. Don't really know why but there's nothing we can do about it as its all handled by indiegogo.

I wonder if it's an additional film. They responded to somebody on Facebook in regards to The Perfume of the Lady in Black. They said if they received 50K, they're remaster it.

I'm guessing it's an extra remaster for 50k?

It probably won't be included in the £45 bracket though would it? I've not backed any campaigns before this one but I'd expect any additional remasters to be top up perks?


Either way at this point I feel £30k is a certainty, £40k is increasingly likely but £50k would be asking too much.

Hope to be proven wrong though.
