Default X-Men Cinematic Universe

So what's next?

If Cable is next in Deadpool 2 and Mister Sinister is used in the next X-men movie, is it possible the main X-Men side villains will be X-23 and Stryfe?

I'm assuming Dark Phoenix storyline will be tried again in the future.
Genosa island storyline for Magneto?
Mojo and Spiral?

Fox is lucky for being able to cover so many awesome X-Men films in one film without trilogies. The continuity is certainly nice and same actors appearing too.

Just like Marvel phase films, the X-Men movies can keep on going even without Wolverine. X-Men Apocalypse and Deadpool were trial-run movies to see how they can succees without Wolverine being the focus.

I think the sequel will be set in the nineties, without Wolverine... with brand-new costumes similar to the comic counterparts.

It could feature Colossus and Iceman, or even Rogue... because the timeline has changed TWO TIMES at this point (my special theory) and they could have been born long time before their time in "Timeline Prime A".

Said that, I think they will introduce the Shi'Ar Empire and revise the whole Phoenix saga. Just that. No Sinister, no Magneto.
Maybe the Brood? Good chance.

One thing is for sure: something must change. They must break the format. Make the next movie totally unpredictable.

And I wanna add this:

I feel like they will recast Wolverine in the future to come, maybe maybe maybe in 2021. X-23 will be only a "temporary solution" to make people forget about Hugh.
They will recast Wolverine. Don't forget that - at some point - Wolverine must join the X-Men, no matter what, because he was living in the Mansion at the very end of DOFP (2023) and he was an X-Man and a history teacher.

I enjoyed Deadpool, but I don't want him crossing over into the X-Men proper. That movie was clearly a parody. It would be like making Spaceballs canon to the Star Wars Saga. Let him continue to be his own thing, even using alternate / parody versions of X-Men characters, like Colossus.

Stryfe would definitely be the villain an X-Force movie. LOVE Stryfe!

Deadpool will eventually be crossing over with the X-Men by way of an X-Force movie.

They could turn it into a joke. Like, Cable pulls DP into the "real" X-Men continuity and all of a sudden his meta stops working right.

Let's set things straight by marking down exactly which titles are set within the X-Men Cinematic Universe. If I understand correctly, the other Marvel superhero properties produced by Fox (Daredevil, Fantastic Four, etc.) are not at all set in the X-Men Universe. So, official titles set within the universe are, by release date:

X-Men
X-Men 2: United
X-Men: The Last Stand
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
X-Men: First Class
The Wolverine
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Deadpool
X-Men: Apocalypse

And then upcoming inclusions are:

Untitled Nineties-set X-Men film
Wolverine 3
Deadpool 2
Gambit
X-Force
New Mutants

Am I missing anything?

From what I've read, none of the X-related TV projects are actually set in the cinematic universe. So titles like Generation X movie from 1996, and the upcoming Legion television series are totally their own things. Just like the DC Cinematic Universe is unrelated to the DC television shows on CW and Fox.

Yeah definitely not, I was just kidding around. Although I kinda like the Generation X TV movie even though its pretty hokey.

But yeah, it's got a totally different Emma Frost and Banshee, plus they totally white-washed Jubilee!

That's actually not true. Simon Kinberg actually said they are in fact in the universe in a new interview:

Quote:
The X-Men universe is about to get a lot bigger. With Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse hitting theaters on May 27, 2016, Fox’s cinematic Marvel universe is beefing up its ranks with the likes of Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), and many more. But the sprawling superhero universe, which also includes the likes of Deadpool and Fantastic Four, is making its way to the small screen too, with Noah Hawley’s Legion and Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne’s Hellfire. Given the example the precedent that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has set, it’s only natural to wonder whether or not these two mediums could have a superheroic crossover in the future.

While speaking with me at a London press day for X-Men: Apocalypse, writer/producer Simon Kinberg shed some light on how exactly the film universe and the television universe will intersect:

Quote:
“I think it will depend from show to show, to be totally honest. I think what we want is that all of the different things within the Fox Marvel Universe — or whatever you want to call it — that they acknowledge one another. So like Deadpool acknowledges the X-Men even though it’s totally different. Legion, which is the first TV show that we have, and Noah Hawley, who is a genius, who is the creator of the show and directed it and wrote it, it acknowledges the movies but it doesn’t necessarily take place and interact with the characters from the film. So we want them all to exist within the same world and feel like they’re part of the same tapestry, but they don’t necessarily need to be all telling the same story.”
After resetting the timeline in Days of Future Past, the X-Men franchise has something of a clean slate, so it makes sense that Kinberg and company would be hesitant about committing entirely one way or the other. Something tells me that it will be more akin to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where they are technically in the same continuity as their feature film counterparts, but seem to run parallel to one another rather than interacting directly.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

Would you like to see the X-Men TV and cinematic universe crossover? Or do you prefer the DC Extended Universe model? Let us know in the comments below.

Hmm Interesting. I was going off of an interview from January:

FX's Legion Anticipated to Debut in 2016; Series Not Set in X-Men Film Universe

Quote:
Legion centers on the story of David Haller, the alleged son of Professor X who was previously diagnosed with Schizophrenia before realizing his supposed illness was actually something more. Landgraf said this potential series won't take place within the X-Men film universe.

"It's not in the continuity of those films in the sense the current X-Men films take place in a universe in which everybody on planet Earth is aware of the existence of mutants," he said. "The series Legion takes place in a parallel universe, if you will, in which the US government is in the early days of being aware that something called mutants exist but the public is not. I wouldn't foresee characters moving back and forth because they really are parallel universes."
Although in this earlier article, he is still suggesting that crossovers can happen. Where as the new article that you've shared suggests that it will be more directly related. I guess things have changed in development.

haha. Well Singer and the producers have mentioned things to that effect. That there are no continuity errors... The time travel business going on in this particular cinematic universe creates ripples that cause things to shift. The ending shown in Days of Future Past isn't necessarily set in stone, for example. As cockeyed as that whole explanation is, it allows me to enjoy the series more. I absolutely hate it when story continuity is ignored, or roles are recast between installments. Sloppy continuity always takes me out of a sequel. This whole time travel/event altering business they have going on at least provides some sort of explanation for the reckless, patched together storytelling of this series.
