I'd rather they hold off until they stop doing HD DVD ports.

Here's a kicker... Now that they are doing 'The Hobbit' movies for a 2010 theatrical release, that means that IF we get LOTR on Blu-ray, it can be expected that the studio will time the release to coincide with the theatrical release for as massive a market penetration as possible. So, you can expect to wait until 2010 sometime to hear about LOTR.

These hobbit movies are the worst idea ever. I didnt like LOTR to begin with but those hobbits were the worst. I cant believe they are dedicating an entire movie or movie series to those things.

I remain with an open opinion about the Hobbit movies. I think there's a chance that with a great storyline they can be pretty good movies.

I don't really think I can wait two years for the Lord of the Rings trilogy on blu ray

well. Youre saying this is the worst idea ever, then you didnt like LOTR......im confused. why do you care. Clearly, youre in the minority as far as LOTR goes so this isnt really the worst idea ever based on that alone. Your post is very confusing.

The movies are going to be based on the J.R. Tolkien novel called 'The Hobbit' which is the story about how Gollum became Gollum. The 'LOTR: Return Of The King' installment touched on the story briefly, but it has an entire book devoted to it. So, they are not "dedicating an entire movie series to THOSE THINGS."

LOTR - the best trilogy of all time IMHO. The Godfather would be tops if it wasnt for the 3rd one not being up to par.

If you actually read books you will know that The Hobbit is not all about "those things" it is along the same line as TLOTR, i.e. "That Thing" goes on an adventure w/ help from others.

Where'd you get that from? "The Hobbit" is the tale of Bilbo Baggins' travels with the dwarves to the Lonely Mountain, where they encounter the great Dragon Smaug and the battle of five armies takes place.

He does happen to meet Gollum on the journey, however, and it is then that he takes the One Ring.

I wonder who will play Gandalf and Bilbo?
It would be great if they use the same actors, but those guys are getting a little old...

All I know, if the movie doesn't follow the book to a "T", it will be called sacrilege by LoTR nerds...eerrr...fans. These same...eerrr...fans will still see it 6 times at $10 a pop and buy the DVD and the Extended Edition with 48 hours of unseen footage. While the complain about how they movie ruined the book forever.
