Singulus passes Blu-ray test at disc maker QOL
Wed Dec 19, 2007 4:44am EST

FRANKFURT, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Germany's Singulus (SNGG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) won endorsement of its Blu-ray high-definition video replication machines from leading European disc maker QOL and said on Wednesday it saw significant growth for its Blu-ray business.

QOL President Laurent Villaume said in a statement: "We are very satisfied with the fast start of operation," after the Singulus machines passed QOL's final acceptance test.

QOL said it would be able to deliver Blu-ray discs to the market immediately. Until now, little Blu-ray disc replication has taken place in Europe.

"Singulus expects significant growth for the Blu-ray activities," Singulus said in the statement, adding that it would soon deliver its first production modules for dual-layer Blu-ray, which can store 50 gigabytes of data, double that of single-layer discs.

Singulus shares were up 1.7 percent to 7.01 euros by 0920 GMT, one of the top gainers in a flat German TecDAX technology index . (Reporting by Georgina Prodhan; Editing by Paul Bolding)
