Default Fox & BDA should offer whatever it takes to Lucas...

I know Lucas is waiting for market penetration before releasing SW on blu. But, I really think Fox and the BDA should push him hard to at least release one of the movies. Granted, I am sure they already have. But, how big of a coup for blu would it be for a SW release.

this would be the third release in 4 years for star wars. it makes lucas' image look bad, looks like he just wants to keep double dipping or in this case it would be the 12th different version of star wars put out i believe.

lucas has a lot of other star wars projects going on right now, he's going to make more money of these projects than selling 300k blu-ray versions with a couple million dollars in incentive. what fox should do is when his tv show comes out on dvd make an incentive for him to release it on blu-ray. good chance that the movies will not be the first thing star wars we see on blu-ray.

plus, when the movies do come out i guarentee you it will be all 6 at once. he will not release them one by one. and he wants them to be perfect, he won't slop things together, and making quality transfers for the 6 movies takes time.

don't expect the complete saga until at least xmas 2009 on blu-ray.

I suggested this awhile back, but was told there was just no way it could happen. This was before Paramount was "bought" by HD-DVD. If the BDA threw enough money at Lucas, I think he would take it too...

Not going to happen.
Lucas will not put out a first SW release on any format until he's guaranteed a million unit seller minimum.
I bet Christmas 2010

Or maybe 1 each of the new trilogy as their 10 year anniversary rolls around.

there is actually one way that we could see SW before xmas 09 and that is if Steven Spielberg would convince him that it would be a good idea. No amount of cash from the BDA or Fox is going to convince Lucas to do this though.

There's going to be a DVD boxset of Episodes 1-6 before Star Wars hits Blu.

We know how Lucas-nomics works.

There is absolutely NO FRIKKEN WAY Lucas will put the Star Wars franchise on Blu-ray. Why would you? It's a mess with the multiple profiles and disc problems etc. Once there's a clear winner, the masses are buying, and there's sufficient development on PIP and other cool stuff, then I can see him taking a chance.

I dont think it will happen anytime soon, even if BR is declared the 'winner' by WB and the rest of the industry in Q1 2008. Remember how long it to get Star Wars out on DVD?? It took **forever**.

Honestly I began to lose intrest in the movies bc after DVDs were out, I couldnt bear to watch them on shitty VHS. So I didnt watch them for years. Dont get me wrong, Im still a huge fan, but Im not holding my breath for another 5 years.

Smart move would be to drop the Indy trilogy on us...and Willow....hell, I'd even buy Howard the Duck right about now to influence Lucas!!!

I'd rather they offer him nothing. He's been screwing over his loyal fans for years, with reissue after reissue. I have dozens of BD movies to watch, from movie makers and studios that actually want my money. I refuse to beg Lucas, Spielberg, or anyone else to allow me to give them my hard-earned cash. I'll spend my free time and cash enjoying Harry Potter, Blade Runner, Spider Man, Mission Impossible, and all my other Blu Ray (and HD) movies and not worry about Lucas' movies.

I don't think any amount of cash (unless it's a ridiculous amount) will sway him to release on Blu right now. But I'm sure when this format war is over, and the user base is much higher he will release them.
