Post Blacksite Area 51 demo

Anyone else DL this? It seems like a massive turd to me. The graphics look like a blend of old gen and next gen and it still doesn't even feel very smooth. The gameplay is boring.. and animations are poor. It got bad reviews (mostly) but I still expected maybe being rent worthy.

Also, maybe this is just in the demo, but you can only use L2 and R2 for aim/shooting. The Timeshift demo was like this as well. Do these devs not realize the PS3 controller IS NOT an Xbox controller? Do they even play the game on a PS3? The back triggers on the PS3 are not made for shooting.. it just does not feel right. Every popular PS3 game uses R1/L1 for shooting.

Lol..

I look forward to trying out this demo, as well (currently in process of downloading). I agree, these "trigger" buttons on the new controller do feel kind of odd. On a related note, I was turned off by their use in the NFS demo, as throttle and brake controls. Maybe it is just a matter of getting used to something diametrically opposed in control layout pervasively established in the ps2 era, but it just seems to me the right analog control (the amount of travel in the control allowing a great deal of fine control, as opposed to the smaller motion afforded by a "trigger" button) was a perfectly suitable choice for throttle/braking...why the need to abort this practice? Now it is used as a shift control??? All that fine analog control wasted just for a motion that only requires a push up or pull back to execute? I'm just not seeing the rationale behind this choice.

this game seems pretty lame... my brother brought over his 360 and he had downloaded the demo and it was a different demo actually but still seems like a crap game. *shrugs*

It's a shame the premise ["Area 51"] is so enticing, but it never seems to get a proper game to back it up. Wasn't there a ps2 game, as well, that had something to do with Area 51? I remember it had voiceovers from David Duchovney.

i thought the original on the ps2 was pretty good and was looking forward to this but after about 5 minutes with this demo i just deleted it. horrible graphics and controls. just a really bad game overall, then again it was just a demo but I'll be avoiding this one

was'nt impressed the game looked half finished, like it needed a few more months in development.

A month or two ago one of the lead developers had an interview where he just broke down saying that they 'really screwed up' the game if i remember correctly. He just seemed really sad. Said it wasnt just one specific persons fault. Blamed himself, blamed others.

I heard it, but still checked out the demo, thinking how bad could it really be? its just a simple FPS, right?

But pretty immediately you beging to realize what the dev was talking about. I couldnt put my finger on exactly the problem. I coule only think that it felt... sloppy... maybe broken... very bizaree, I dont think I've ever felt this bad for a game so immediate.

And the first demo (whether it was on the PS3 or 360) from a couple months ago, I actually thought it was pretty decent!

I tried this demo the other night. What a horrid piece of crap. I played it for about 10 minutes and deleted it from my hard drive. I was thinking of renting it too. Good thing I saved my money.

Same here. From the commercials, it looked pretty good but I didn't really like the demo so it didn't last long.
