Just noticed last night after viewing Kingdom of Heaven that the disc (and my player) was noticeably warm/hot when I removed it from the tray. Do Blu-ray players run hotter than regular DVD players?

They are usually warm when you take them out but not too hot to handle.

My PS3 has 90-95 degree air coming out of its vents during the summer, when room temp is 80. The BDs from it though aren't noticeably hot when I pull them out.

My BD's are never hot to the touch when I remove them from the BD-S1. Is your hardware well ventilated (nothing on top, not in a cabinet or small shelf) and is it dust free? I have heard of AV receivers getting hot enough to burn, if used at high volume levels, but not BD players.

Thanks for your replies guys! I think I've figured out what the problem was. I had my satellite receiver on top of my BD player. Never thought it would be a problem since my BD player doesn't have any vents on the top of the case. Never realized how much heat that damn Sat Box puts out. I guess that my Sat receiver having vents both on top and bottom should have given me a clue. I've since moved my components around giving my prized BD player it's own shelf.

It's never a good idea to place units on top of each other whether vents are present or not because AV equipment can still put out a lot of heat both through their top and bottom panels. Other then plasma TV's and audio receivers, satellite receivers put out some of the most heat of any AV equipment.
