Default AAFES BX using RCA plugs to connect BD player

I was doing some last minute shopping at the El Segundo Air Force Base Exchange and as I'm walking by the Power Zone I noticed they have a new blu ray display promoting the new Sharp BD player. They had it hooked to a 42" Hitachi. As I was watching the demo play I noticed the the PQ was horrendous. I knew it couldn't be the player so I did some investigating and they have the damn thing hooked up using RCA cables! This is not good for the average buyer trying to determine between HD and BD especially when they have a small HD display showing off Transformers in it's 1080i glory . I tried to find an employee, but my wife thought I was being ridiculous and refused to let me explain the situation to an employee. I left a note by the display.

Ever heard of the phrase: Good enough for government work?

I think my Target is doing the same thing. On one hand they only have Blu displays, but on the other, the pq is not up to snuff. I think they must be using some connection other than hdmi.

Seriously, these blu-ray display demos shouldn't be set up unless they are going to use the proper connections. If I didn't know jack shit about it, I'd think that there's no way I'm paying $300 for that BD player if it's going to give me the same PQ as a $50 dvd player.

Simple 'trick'.

Mention to the staff that you were thinking of getting one, but your TV at home uses a different type of connection that makes the picture look different, ask if they could show you what it would look like with that connection.

The target displays ... Those are interesting, since the bd player they have in them is a mock-up unit. The demo playing is not originating from that sony.
