Default Toy Story 3 - disc went bad

OK, this evening I attempted to watch Toy Story 3. Only at first the PS3 wouldn't load up the disc. Then it loaded it up and started skipping severely through the film. When I looked at the disc there was a kind of mist that could be seen. This is the first blu-ray I've owned that has become unplayable. On the bright side a replacement copy will cost less than a fiver. If I have had a copy that went bad, there must be others as well. So be warned that your Toy Story 3 disc may have rotted. I bought it upon initial release.

Edit: I watched Toy Story 1 instead.

I'd give the disc a rinse with warm soapy water, leave it dry and then wipe it with a cloth. It may help. BD discs are quite handy at been a bit misty or greasy because of their protective coating. So it's worth a try.

But as you said you can pick a replacement for peanuts, especially if you get one from CeX (you don't need a new case just a new or almost new disc).

Mine looks fine, I bought it release week. So you might have just been unlucky.

Sorry to hear that, you might be able to save it with washing as suggested by chip75, but if it's penetrated the disc I doubt there's much than can be done.
However it's such a common title that in many cases, you are basically just paying for them to be delivered.

Thanks for the replies. I already threw the disc away! I have ordered a new replacement copy. Luckily this is a very cheap title to pick up. I'd be gutted if it happened to a disc that had gone out of print or a very expensive title. Disc rot is one of my greatest blu-ray collection fears. At least I got a spare three disc amaray case out of it.

Well I received my replacement today. It looks normal and plays just fine all of the way through. Must just be unlucky that I had a copy which went bad.
