Does it need to be bluetooth for it to work on PS3, or can I use a laser wireless keyboard?

yeah, you can USB RF to work wireless, or bluetooth... do not think there is any laser reciever on the PS3.

btw I have the dNivo edge Bluetooth keyboard and love it.
