GOT me more hyped that it's in 3D. This, Passengers and Rogue One for Christmas.

Here's a unique trailer presentation with a documentary narrator style.

No reviews on the 3D in Assassin's Creed 3D, opening tomorrow in theaters in 3D (3D confirmed).

Quote from Cinemablend.
"While the film may be taking a critical drubbing, Assassin's Creed is a standout 3D experience in the marketplace today. The action manages to look fantastic, both in its depth and projection of image on the screen. However, the troublesome brightness factor manages to dock this film's score more than anything else. Other than that, you've got a pretty solid night behind 3D glasses waiting for you!"

Saw this in 3D and awful projection tonight with some friends. The story is pretty bad, worse than the game. No character development, silly dialogue, lots of questionable decision-making. The parkour action scenes are about the only standout. From what I could make out, the 3D depth is very well done. They don't use it much as a storytelling device, but it sort of enhances the cinematography.

Movie - 2.5/5
3D - 3/5

There's a couple of pop-out arrows and maybe some smoke floating outside the screen. Nothing too interesting but certainly welcome effects. It's a good, pretty standard conversion. You could definitely skip the film, but do go for 3D if it piques your interest.

Thumbs up

Nice review BleedOrange.

------------
Stereo D converted Assassin's Creed and it looks great in 3D, with mostly high medium 3D layers from start to finish, along with some strong 3D in there now and then, but looks great overall. I counted about 3 arrow pop outs yet this was not filmed with 3D in mind with framing that cuts off people's tops, and an eagle flying right towards the screen only to arch its wings vertically, where they're out of frame on the ends. Even so, great conversion.

Assassin's Creed 3D conversion: by Stereo D

3D Layers: 8/10 Mostly high medium 3D throughout. Really nice. Some strong 3D in there.
3D Pop out count: 2/10. Hardly any pop out effects.
3D creativity: 2/10. Made with 2D framing of characters.
3D Conversion: 8.5/10. This is comparable with Force Awakens' 3D and looks great.

I will consider this on blu ray 3D as the movie and 3D were entertaining with some very dry humor, and lots of great action fights and chases.

The movie's plot centers around finding an apple of Eden to make people subservient to the Templars, while the Assassin's are trying to protect it. Very silly plot focus aside, the movie kept me interested and the action was great, fast and action packed with well done and cool choreography.

Michael Fassbender really kicks @ss in this movie if that's him in most of the fights. Lots of martial arts, weapon attacks, pole fights, not much swordplay, but plenty of bow and arrows. The parkour does not disappoint, and the Animus historical city is very much right out of the games in terms of style and look, along with the trademark eagle, and the Assassin hoods and flick wrist blades.

I was entertained by the film despite the plot about this supposedly all powerful apple that is mechanical with lights, yet somehow based on the Bible. With the competition, this will likely be overlooked in theaters I'm sorry to say. Bad timing IMO going against Star Wars Rogue One.

Movie was pretty good, and the 3D was definitely good. Will be getting this on 3D Blu-Ray...shame it's by Fox because the steelbook - if it gets one - won't include the 3D disc.

Thanks Blastcage, sorry to hear Fox doesn't normally offer the steelbook with the 3D disc set. I am glad to see the 3D box art at this time instead of just the 2D box art as with Rogue One in the US.

Fox and Warner Bros are the biggest offenders. Both studios forget to put the 3D discs in their steelbooks all the time. The amount of steelbooks I have wanted but couldn't get is starting to get rather high. On another note, seeing as Fox loves director's/extended cuts, I gotta wonder if we'll see some sort of extended cut for this.

The 3D is worth it, though the movie itself does have a number of dimly lit shots and fog shots here and there that diminish the high medium to strong 3D effect somewhat, but thankfully a good portion of Assassin's Creed 3D is well lit.

Thanks. Yeah, an extended version could be interesting. It could fill in some of the story gaps regarding the orb apple's apparent influence and effects on people.
[Show spoiler]I think we were just about to see it working at the end, till the Assassin showed up.

If an extended cut doesn't explain that a bit better, hopefully a sequel would, if we get one.

I saw it yesterday at my local cinemark. The 3-D was better than Rogue One for sure, but a bit too dark, even for a cinemark screen. Mostly medium to high medium. The story, on the other hand, was boring and passe. It kind of reminded me of Point Break last year. I simply didn't care for the characters or the plot.

Thanks Revgen. Better lighting in certain scenes would help, I agree.

The theater I saw this in had it projected so dark that combined with the editing and incomprehensible story, I couldn't tell what the h**l was going on through most of the film.

This one will look much brighter on 3DTVs with a backlight option.
Cinemark has some of the brightest projection of 3D films, so I lucked out in the theater, but I agree, the film itself doesn't have a lot of lighting indoors. That reminds me a little of the dark silhouette war room scenes in Independence Day 2 3D, but here it's not as severe I felt.
