Default Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman's the Fantastic Four (12/20/16)

Documentary about the making, promotion, cancelled release and legacy of the Roger Corman-produced Fantastic Four film. Blu-Ray seems to be available as an Amazon MOD disc, available December 20. Film is available through digital streaming services and VOD now.

I decided to get the digital version and found it to be a very good documentary, with some behind the scenes footage and photos as well as clips from the infamously unreleased movie. Hopefully one of the commentators is correct and a film copy of the movie still exists and Marvel can be persuaded to let a home video release of it be made someday.

Looking forward to this.

Did you guys know that for a while (at least during the 1994 winter season) FAO Schwarz had Doom's gauntlets on display? They were on a pedestal protected by an acrylic case, and was accompanied by one or two production pics.

That, and a $2000 giant teddy bear is all I remember.

Pre-ordered this with their site in february 2014 :-)
They never mentioned it would be a BD-R. Hope those of us who lent our support get a pressed disc.

Fun Fact:

On Fios whenever the new Fantastic Four movie comes on HBO, the description and picture of the film is for this version.

I turned it on one time, only to be disappointed that it wasn't the 1994 film. I really should watch it one of these days. I've still never seen it.

Now if only we can get the real movie released in a non-pirated format.

What a sad state of affairs it is when the Roger Corman version is still the best Fantastic Four movie with the most screen accurate Doom.

It would have been cool if one of the extra features was an SD copy of the original film, even in its current state. It's surprisingly entertaining, shame that it has been relegated to a sub-par VHS bootleg scan though.

I actually thought that would be cool, if the Blu-Ray had the best-looking version of the movie available on it as a bonus. I guess you'd have to clear it with Marvel, but at this point, if they're letting Shout Factory release the older Captain America movies and the Dr. Strange TV movie, there's really no harm in letting this movie get out there.

By the way, if you haven't seen it, someone found a 35 mm print of a trailer for the movie and transferred it to 1080p digital video and put it on YouTube. Watching it really makes me mad that we've just had VHS transfers of the movie.

And Doctor Doom actually looks and sounds like Doctor Doom.

Who knew that was possible?

I doubt it will, so I'd suggest getting it or renting it on Vudu or whatever service you like. Apparently, the iTunes version contains bonus features. I decided I'd go ahead and get the Blu-Ray as well, even though it's an MOD.

The Vudu price was $10, so it's not too expensive to check it out before you get the Blu-Ray.

I don't know anything about the movie but I'm very interested in it. If this goes around $10 I may bite.

I wonder if they will be able to show any clips from the film in the documentary.

I wonder how the rights are. You at least have Marvel/Disney of course, Roger Corman (who's had a couple of companies come and go since '94), and then the guys who hired Roger so they could keep the rights. I suspect that the rights are a wicked gordian knot.
