Default My Christmas Gift....to myself!!!

OK, so for Christmas I ordered myself the onkyo tx-sr805s which will be at my place on the 28th, and then i purchased rush hour 3, pan's labyrinth, and mr & mrs Smith.

Now I am kinda hoping that the reciever will blow out my crappy 5.1 speakers so that it gives me a reason to purchase new polk audio speakers

Just thought I would let people know that I am finally upgrading and getting rid of this 5 year old POS

Sorry but I won't buy products from any company that supports HD DED. Besides I think Pioneer Elite, Denon and Harman Kardon make superior products.

Blow those 5.1's so you can get 7.1!!!!!! & I know Onkyo said they were going to start selling HDDVD plays but I haven't seen any...I haven't looked either ( & don't care to ). Onkyo's prices & build quality are excellent, but if you want to spend more by all means ( DE DE DEE ) your self away LOL

I agree, Pioneer Elite receivers are sweet, have the 92 and the 94 and you can't go wrong.

I would feel a lot worse about them if they actually built a red player, but I don't blame them for taking the cash for a rebadge. I think they would gain a lot more credibility if they would release a BD player though.

The only of the brands I disagree with you on is HK, their stuff is definitely superior, but the last couple of generations of recievers from them have had some real QC and big bug problems.

Sadly, I have had to rule out all but Denon, Onkyo, and
Yamaha for my next reciever as I collect SACDs and they are about the only brands left supporting DSD over HDMI. Pio did for a while, but the new generation seems tohave dropped the feature. Of course, I am really looking at recievers to act as a preamp anyway as I have a fund going to eventually pick up an Exodous Hypex amp.

BTW OP, hope you enjoy your presents.

Chris

I don't think Harman Kardon makes a receiver that decodes Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA.

I'm not sure if Pioneer's is out yet, but I believe it's QUITE a bit higher than Onkyo's 805.

Denon's cheapest next-gen audio receiver, the AVR-2308CI isn't bad, but only two HDMI inputs compared to the 3 on the Onkyo.
