So my 2011 55" Panasonic VT30 died last week, 7 blinking lights, and I'm looking for advice. Should I replace it with the LG 65" OLED65B6P, which is on sale right now at BB for $700 off, or have my VT30 repaired? If I should have it repaired can anyone recommend a reliable in-home repair service for New York City? Thanks.

Tough call - if the repair is reasonable and you are overall happy with the TV then it might be worth repairing it. But, if the cost of the repair is excessive(or even somewhat excessive) then I would NOT throw money at a 6 year old TV right now. The OLED will be more like your plasma than any LCD so thats a plus.
Honestly, Id lean towards gettng a new TV at this point. thats my opinion on it. |

I'd get the new TV but save the old one and get it repaired later -- if it can be repared and doesn't cost too much.
Then again, you may like the new TV better and not bother fixing the plasma. Nothing lasts forever. Meanwhile, my 2008 Panasonic plasma TH-46PZ80U is still going strong. |

I just got my 55" GT plasma back a few hours ago. Circuit board died and had to be ordered from CHINA. Anyhow, they reset the TV and I now have to put back all the settings. Stupid-like, I never wrote them down so it's going to eyeball it. Lost everything so now it's HDMI 1, HDMI 2...etc.
