The best deal seems to be on Vudu. You'll get DMA for all but New Hope, but they are also showing UV flag for it too.

I figure if you're going to shell out cash for it, may as well go for the place where your movies and TV will congregate the most.

I picked it up at Vudu since the price was right and includes all the disney points. Pretty much enough to get a free blu-ray. Or close at any rate.

hm, i don't think i got any dmr points for buying on vudu :\ had a 30% coupon or whatever it was around black friday..i surprisingly do have the 50% any movie offer on google play, but..no point in buying it twice, right? hahah. i just wish there an easier way to keep track of what digital things you own where..

I keep a Google Sheets Doc, accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection so I can check whether I own something before I purchase if I am out shopping. I keep track of all my physical media and digital media (which service, SD/HD, etc).

I've tried lots of collection tracking programs and apps but always end right back to using a spreadsheet.

I went ahead and got it on Amazon @ 64.99 and linked my DMA account to Amazon so they all transferred to VUDU. I've been on the fence for a while.

Edit: ANH did not transfer...I forgot about that one not being DMA.

Lucasfilm owns them and Disney owns Lucasfilm. Disney can release them as long as Lucasfilm provides them the distribution rights. Lucasfilm can also work with Fox on clearing any legal hurdles with A New Hope.

The digital collection is distributed by Lucasfilm through Disney and a deal was made with Fox to include A New Hope in this collection. Eps I-III & V-VI are silently distributed by Disney for Lucasfilm which is why they are Disney Movies Anywhere enabled. Episode IV is still distributed by Fox for Lucasfilm and is UV enabled. Episodes VII-VIIII, Rogue One, and additional spin-offs are also silently distributed by Disney for Lucasfilm.

They can't do anything really until 2020. But I would bet in that original contract with Disney Lucas said you can't release the originals uncut.

I don't know. I would bet Disney said "We are giving you 4 Billion dollars, we don't want any restrictions."
