Right before the new movie hits theaters. I figured this would happen.

This is one of those movies that would blow the roof off in Atmos. I'd love to check it out when I have the setup for all that. Not sure if the theater I saw it in is equipped for Atmos but it certainly sounded like it - total 3D sonic assault.

It'll come out in the US before F8 of the Furious hits theaters. There's no way Universal will pass up that opportunity to sell more copies of those movies. The only question is will they release all of them or just a few(like say, Fast Five, F&F6, and Furious 7).

I guess we can assume Universal will half-ass the earlier films if they end up doing a box set like with Bourne.

It would be a shame if masterpieces like 2 Fast 2 Furious don't get released on 4K.

It's not a good movie(most entries in this series aren't), but the completist in me wants them all.

I watched all 7 on BD the past week, it would be nice to see a new master/scan of the first. The rest either held their own (2/3) or looked/sounded great (4 and onwards). The first was your standard piece of shit Universal Blu-ray.

I watched the first not long ago and thought it looked perfectly fine. Not amazing, but fine. I don't think I like it enough to ever buy it again.

I can't wait to buy the box set to this franchise in 4k.

Was thinking the same thing. Also wonder if the UHDs will include both cuts of 7 (and any of the other ones), or theatrical cuts across the board.

I might be interested in Fast Five (it's the only one I ever bothered buying), but it's not a movie I watch much anyway and the Blu-ray already looks solid. Will probably pass on all of these.

Universal is re-releasing all movies in February. they aren't gonna re-re-release more within the 2 months before the movie hits theaters.

I wonder how many times these movies have been re-released. They do it everything a new one comes out, so more re-releases will come out when Fast 9 comes out.

Universal have been including extended cuts for their 4K titles, (thus far), so fingers crossed. It's Sony and Warner being asshats.

I agree, I think it's quite a serviceable Blu-ray given Universal's otherwise less-than-stellar reputation with catalogue transfers. It's an old transfer but decent enough with it. Universal will probably just up-rez it for UHD if Bourne is any indication, mind you.
