Default PS3 60G Replaced!! New or used???

Hi All,

The BD drive went in my PS3 on Christmas eve (Bought in October).

I returned it to the shop today and they replaced it immediately with a new 60G model (Although it is discontinued).

I asked to make sure it was new and the was told that Sony have sent them a extra stock of 60G models to be used for replacements as in my case. In Ireland, by law we have a 12month warranty with the option of Repair, replacement or refund.

What do you guys think New or Refurbished??

I also got 100euro of vouchers for my trouble(Mostly 5euro off when you spend 60euro so not a bad outcome in the end.

I personally don't think it matters. But, if you could have new, why would you pick refurbished (used)?

PS3's have an incredibly low failure rate. I was unfortunate enough to receive a dead on arrival unit, but hey, shit happens. I exchanged it no problem. Somebody somewhere will eventually get my unit all fixed up as a refurb. Whatever was wrong with it is now fixed, and I wouldn't worry about that particular problem happening again.

If however they were to offer you instead a new 40 or 80GB or a refurb 60GB, I'd suggest the refurb 60 no questions asked.

You have some good return policies in Ireland.

You'll be lucky if you could return a PS3 here in the states after 20 days without being branded as a thief cheating the system, or some other lame excuse to keep numbers high in the store. Maybe most of what I say here isn't true. Maybe I just have a deep hatred towards Best Buy.

There are still 60 gb ps3s out there, but as fara as yours goes it could be one but if it still has the same warranty I would not care.

Exactly!
I went all over Hell and back to find a 60gb for an XMas present! I personally use a 20gb model with a 160gb hard drive popped in for storage. I was considering upgrading to the 60 but...meh. Too late now I suppose.
