My thoughts (so far)

I love The Governator, but Arnold seems very low key, with very little of his charisma on display. Even though the show intersperses his various catchphrases - "You're Terminated!" "Hasta La Vista, Baby" and "Get to the Choppa" - it all feels very strained. Even moments that are meant to be tense - "in here, you call me Governor" - seem fake and contrived. I also don't get the sense that any of these celebs genuinely care about their charities, but maybe I'm just cynical?

Note: I am completely unfamiliar with The Apprentice franchise. I've never had a reason to watch the show or care about it - until now.

I'm hoping Arnold will grow into the role.

Opinions on the season?

Personally it was a bit of a letdown. Arnold got a bit better as the episodes progressed, but didn't have the Trump appeal.

The finale was not in front of a live audience, and the winner was announced in a room of only 5 people....

Matt Iseman was a highlight of the season.

I'm the OP, and I honestly gave up on the show after a few episodes. Hearing that "Mr. Charisma" Matt Iseman won did not make me regret my decision, although it sounds like he was eventually entertaining from what you're saying. I've never seen the Trump version and only checked this one out because of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately, Arnie looked very uncomfortable in the episodes I watched, and all of this catchphrases - "You can call me Governor," etc. - felt extremely forced. Very disappointing overall, at least from what I saw.

Yeah he's blaming the Anti Trump sentiment but I personally don't think that was the shows main problem.

Lackluster celebs except 3-4 folks and Arnold just doesn't have the pull he once did. I watched it as a fan of the show and Arnold...but it was garbage most weeks because the celebs themselves except for a couple were garbage.

It probably helped for me that I watch American Ninja Warrior which Iseman co-hosts.

I have always loved Brooke Burke cos she is super hot.

Boy George was from my era and a big celeb in his day so I thought he was a great choice.

They ALWAYS have the "Housewives" so I had no problem with the housewives...

Laila Ali is a big star.

Vince Neil a big star.

Carnie Wilson - pretty famous.

Snooki, Jon Lovits - heard of them, never watched them.

Don't follow American sports so I never know who the sports people are.

No idea who Carson Kressley was.

No idea who Carrie Keagan was.




But I though the celebs were no worse that usual.....

So I don't think you can blame that factor.

I will say I think they should have thrown ALL THEIR FIREPOWER behind this season and gotten BIGGER CELEBS that usual to help kick start Arnold's reign. I think that may have made it a success.

But the fact that Arnold lacked Trump's charisma and credibility in the role was a big negative for this season.

I wouldn't say that it was the anti-Trump boycott, it was Trump and his public hatred of the fact Arnold was doing it.

I enjoyed the season, it wasn't the best but for a first season reboot, it wasn't too bad.

But of course they're no patch on the movies he did when he was a young man in the prime of his life, stardom, and muscularity. To expect similar success from him now is asking for too much. With that said, he's maintained a high level of quality in his roles as he's aged - unlike Sly and Willis - and he's still in great shape.
