Frigging finally!!! Best news I've heard in a while.
I can't believe it took them this long to release this. Couldn't even find a decent DVD of this for years. One of Hong Kong's most underrated films. On par with WKW's best films minus the flash and glitz. Really hope it's a good remaster. http://dvd.jsdvd.com/product_info.php?products_id=33025 |

I saw this "HDTV x264 1080p AAC-HQC" floating around, but most of the English subs are off sync (from what I hear). By the way, I am on the fence of this movie. Is it much better than the "Fly Me to Polaris" (1999), as that one was not so good (except for Cecilia Cheung doing a decent acting job)... It was a bit clumsy and seemed rushed to make....

DDDHouse preorder
http://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_d...roductID=15966--- This is region A Kimchi DVD pre-order http://kimchidvd.com/en/good/goods.jsp?good_seq=21384 --- This is region 3 ![]() This is one of the most romantic movie that came out of Hong Kong in the 90's and probably still holds the title now. And Maggie Cheung shines with this performance. The previous DVD releases were generally had bad pictures or cropped out. The movie was a huge hit in Hong Kong and it has been playing in festival everywhere. Recently it was chosen as one of the Maggie Cheung film festival shown in New York. It won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress for Maggie in 1997 Hong Kong Film Awards. According to wikipedia: "The film has been screened theatrically for the first time in nearly a decade at the Hong Kong International Film Festival in 2012 with a new 35 mm print supervised by director Peter Chan. The film will be shown at the 70th Venice International Film Festival in 2013." Hopefully this release reflects the new remaster from Peter Chan. This is no brainer purchase if you love Asian movie and love Maggie Cheung. Considering Maggie is semi retired now, this is definitely a welcome release. Maybe someday Criterion will consider this movie as part of its catalogue. Last edited by ganlie; 02-19-2017 at 10:11 PM. |
