Default Panasonic PT-AE8000U issue with uniform blacks at edges

Hello All!
I just purchased and installed my new Panasonic PT-AE8000u, upgrading from a 4000u, I've had for about 7 years. BUT, after installing and running the Spears calibration disc I noticed that the blacks are not uniform and bloom at the top right and bottom left of the image. I'm thinking my best bet is to send this one back to ProjectorPeople.com and have them ship me out a new one. Has anyone else experienced this? See pics for issue. Thanks!

A general rule of thumb is to allow 300 hours or so so the bulb burns in before calibrating the projector.

Nevertheless, calibrating your projector would not account for the issues you are having. If your projector shipped with another bulb you could try it and see if the issue replicates itself.

If it does then it could be a issue with the projector.

If it does not then it could be a issue with the bulb.

Your projector is relatively new. Try exchanging it with the vendor.

If all else fails call Panasonic. They will sort you out.

That's likely to be the LCD panel.

For the record LCD is the worst at white and black uniformity. Also pixel structure.

DLP is best at uniformity and pixel structure.

DILA and LCOS is best at native contrast.

LCoS and particularly JVCs can have this issue to varying degrees, as well. The questions here are: 1) Is this normal behavior on the Panasonics? My guess it probably is, but might be worth checking over AVS as there is more traffic in the projection section there. I would also search on some credible reviews. 2) Can you see the issue in content from your regular seating position? If not and it's typical behavior, it won't be a big deal.

100 hours is the general rule for lamp break-in, but that has nothing to do with this issue.
