I'm always slightly on the fence when it comes to Arrow releasing well established films. As much as I love having amazing versions of films I love, I always find it better when they release something that is more undervalued or undiscovered and being pleasantly surprised.

Regardless the announcement is welcome.

I'm hoping Howard Hawks' original and the Morricone score is included.

I have a feeling the SF remaster is going to be blown out of the water. It came out at a time that SF appeared to be using sharpening on their remasters and had purple homogenization issues.

I'm hoping for a new scan from the original negative.

Probably. And I plan on buying it to go with my Scream Factory copy. It would be nice if it's a crazy special edition, if only to differentiate it from the Scream Factory edition, but it still doesn't need to be since this is a UK exclusive and the film is pretty much a huge fan favorite worldwide.

A boxset of the two would be quite something. It is with Universal here so theoretically possible, but I don't know the potential for a restoration given that Warner have laboured over one in the US (there might be a problem with the elements, I'm not sure).

I like to think the A-listers pay for a lot of the weird gambles. I'll happily buy The Thing again if it offers anything reasonably different to the SF release, and no doubt some kind of LE would sell out stupidly fast at pretty much any price.

Preach Witchfinger Generous!

I'm not anti-box or anything, but I'm not crazy about big gross looking things on my shelf...even worse is if they just gather dust then geez, what am I even doing with it?

I'm not a toy collector, so it's just not really my bag.

How many time do I need to buy this movie?! It's a favourite of mine and I was blown away with the Scream Factory release, but I'm sure Arrow will do something special.

Would be much more interested in the original tbh, I think the remake is vastly overrated by many.

I'm all Thinged out. I'm sure it will look the best, but I have no interest in revisiting this in the near future. Would also like to see the original restored so I can ditch the Japanese Blu, but it's supposed to be in bad shape.

AWWWW YEAH!!!!!!

Love Carpenter but never got the standard UK version of this film. If the Arrow release is anything like their Big Trouble one, this'll be awesome!!!!

Wow, I've never been so glad for procrastinating as I am right now! I ditched the US Universal release months ago. Will most definitely continue holding off on buying the Scream release until more info about this one is revealed.

I may be wrong here, but considering Shout just used Arrows master for To Live And Die In LA I'm wondering if this is a case of exchanged Masters. Arrow did it with Criterion in regards to Thief/Time Bandits.

Holy SHITBALLS. Come on Arrow, make this another one of those delicious 4K-from o-neg remasters that y'all have been smashing out of the park lately. You know you want to.
