Australia Fletch / Fletch Lives (au)

Two Chevy Chase classics, Fletch and Fletch Lives are FINALLY being released in Australia, through SHOCK, on March 1 2017.

It's disconcerting that JB/Sanity don't have any pre-order and EzyDVD only has DVD releases dated March 2nd.

Hoping this will happen and will turn up in stores.
Love Fletch. Funny, funny movie. Fletch Lives was above average as well.
I imported the US Universal release with a washed out DNR'd VC-1 transfer.
Hoping that the Shock release will use the German Koch AVC masters.

Fingers crossed Shock will actually release on BD in Australia (and not pull pre-orders).

Aren't JB kinda 50/50 for whether they put catalog titles up for pre-order? I still have faith we will walk in next week and they'll be on shelves.

It is a bit weird, but they're all up for PO on Shock's website, so I'm not too worried.

Listings for the blus of both Fletch movies as well as The Jerk and Housesitter have all been removed from Shock's website.

I see that the DVDs are still on their site slated for a March 1st release.

DVD only... F*ck!

Bunch of technical savages in this country!

So now, back to having to import.
However, to buy the German BD release of Fletch Lives, will have to buy "Die Fletch box", as they don't appear to be sold seperately.

hdgfs (fellow member) posted region coding info.
Will have to PM him to ask if the German transfer of Fletch is worth the upgrade... 'Cos it will be a double dip (imported the washed out US VC-1, ported from HD DVD)
Would also like to know how Fletch Lives looks?
Hope Koch found a clean print for both transfers and has a nice field of grain.

Found some thoughts on Fletch Lives at this link:

So, if JB aren't just playing around, we might still see Fletch/Fletch Lives...

But it doesn't look good at all. Sanity has both films in DVD for March 1st release.

DVD only! Bunch of technical savages in Australia.

For ****s sake, it's the ****ing 21st Century. Almost the 20's and we are still getting re-releases of films on DVD when there are BD transfers available!
****! ****! ****! ****ity ****!
There is no emoticon for what I am feeling.

That's weird though that someone would be able to pre-order it on blu. Maybe it's a case of wait and see if anything turns up on March 1st.

I saw both Fletch Blus on the shelf yesterday at JB Bourke St. So they're already out and available.

They are JB exclusives, and are in their buy 2 get 1 free promotion (so is Housesitter, and The Jerk).

Fantastic news! Cancelled my previous order for Day of the Jackal and re-ordered along with Fletch Lives and Suddenly Last Summer, three great films unavailable here in North America, two of which among my all time favourite films.

Sweet! Too late to hit up a JB today. Will go there first thing tomorrow morning.

"Hey, you know, I feel a whole lot better in this position. Maybe if I just did some calestenics in the morning, a few push-ups and: Moon Ri-ver! Phew. Thanks doc... Are you using the whole fist there doc?"

Glad to see I was right again, although they kinda scared me with the listings disappearing everywhere cause of the JB exclusive thing.

I'll be picking these bad boys up tomorrow.

Spot on. You picked it rightformula1. Came good in the end. Still weird.

Fletch: You know, I came this close to buying this place, but then I found out that Hop-along Cassidy killed himself here.
Alan Stanwyk: Who?
Fletch: Hop-along Cassidy. Bow and arrow. Very Weird.

Tried both films in my US model Sony Region A player (confirmed on Sony BDP-S590 Blu-Ray player).

Plays back fine on US players (Region A confirmed) and is Region Free.
Cevolution confirmed Region Free.

^ Do you have your TV's overscan setting set to on mate? I only ask because I noticed that you put 1.78:1 as the aspect ratio for these in the database, when the aspect ratio for them is actually 1.85:1.

Edit: I submitted an update for the spec, and can see that it has been changed already. That was fast.

Cheers. My mistake. Didn't notice the black top and bottom.
My Sony 43" W800C has a fine black edge and I assumed perhaps that Shock wouldn't have bothered with respecting the OAR (and simply fill the screen to 1.78:1).
