Receiver audio output

How do you know what audio outputs your receiver can do?

I have a Sony HT-DDW795, it's 5.1. I'm using an optical cable to my PS3, I know it can do Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS but I'm not sure if it will do they rest of the options.

Well there is the manuel, google & most of the time on the front of the reciever it will have little Icons like DTS, THX, dolby, dolby digital, dolby digital ex, DTSHD, Dolby truehd & do on

Receivers usually have little icons that light up on the display panel that tell you the specific type of track that you are listening to and the active speakers in the output matrix.
