Default Local Walmart Selection

So I walk into walmart today for some shopping, decided to check out electronics to see what players they had:

3 HD-D1's
4 HD-A2's
NO BD players

Very irritating.

Not many people go to Wal-Mart to buy their high-end electronics.

Understood, BUT a little advertising would not hurt. Throw a Sony 300 up there or something.

I'm in Panama City, Florida and it seems that all the retail stores in my area; Best Buy Circuit City and Wal-mart are 80 percent Blu. My Wal-Mart has a lot more Blu in the past 2 months than before.

Maybe mine just sucks. The HD Movie rack is a combined rack of BD and HDDVD and equal to about 1/4 the selection at best buy.

Mine was that way but here in the past two months things are looking a lot different. I'm a cosmetologist and I've probably sold 40 in the past year just by talking about blu and the format wars etc.

All Wal-Mart locations within the Niagara region carry both Blu-ray and HD DVD. Though it's clear that Blu-ray movies take up more space than the HD DVD movies.

They are selling Venturer's HD DVD players though. Ugh.

The one thing I did notice about the small movie selection, BD was about 80% of it.

I just went to one location today... the Blu-ray shelves were TOTALLY EMPTY!

Same with the HD DVD shelf but there weren't a lot of them to start with. So I asked a Wal-Mart employee what happened to all of the movies. He said that they sold them for 2 for $20...

I assume he meant 2 for $30... still... I think they made a BIG mistake. They weren't supposed to sell all of the Blu-ray movies for that price on Boxing Day.

My Wal Mart is still carrying the RCA HD DVD player. I believe they want $299 for it. They have it in the center isle in front of the electronics section connected to a TV, but it never plays anything. I haven't seen any other HD players there.

That one is $199.99 CAD at the local Costco.
