Universal Studios The Fate Of The Furious AKA Fast & Furious 8 (2017) [No 3D Blu-ray]

Not a fan of the series but my local cinema has put up screenings for this in 3d, and it is also playing in imax 3d. So unlike the last it isn't just a Chinese/South American release in 3d.

Trailer in 3d (haven't watched it yet so have no idea of the quality or if it is a fakr 3d trailer or not):
[Removed: as the trailer was fake].

I'm pretty sure your theater listing is wrong. There's no indication anywhere that the film is 3D. (I've even asked my friends that work at the studio and they said it's not...)

Where is your local theater? I live in the SF/Bay Area and there are no 3D listings in the SF/Bay Area or Sacramento Area.

Actually, it does look like it's going to be in 3D for our mates down under.

I don't want to give away my location to much, but even the imax in Melbourne is listing it as coming in 3d. As well as the two major cinema chains.

My local cinema and several others I have now checked have 2d sessions booked and 3d sessions booked. Now maybe the distributor has sent out incorrect info to everyone in Australia but that seems very unlikely.

Might be an international only release like Fast 7... There's no listings in the crew for anyone doing 3D conversion.

Didn't Australia get some of the international only 3D releases?

I'm pretty sure this is an international 3D only release. I don't see any 3D showings listed in any format (standard 3D, IMAX, 4DX etc) here in the U.S., and I also see the list of IMAX movies says the 3D version is "selected international territories only"

We didn't get the last one in 3d. We typically get the far better conversions that the us often miss out on. For example Mockingjay part 2, which is fantastic in 3d. We didn't get films like Maze Runner 2 though.

I don't believe or haven't heard of Fate of the Furious being in 3D.

That's a fake trailer. One eye is a few frames ahead of the other.

I thought it may be. Removed it from OP. The film does seem like it is coming in 3d, but seemingly not to America.

Well it's definitely playing in 3D down in Brazil. I missed Furious 7 in 3D because of work and I won't be down there til June, so I'll probably miss this one too.

If this was in 3D in the US, I would probably check it out. I'm an action movie fan but never got into the Fast & Furious series after seeing part 1 and the one set in Tokyo, though I still have to watch Fast Five which I heard is when the series started getting much better if that's true.

Good to see a 3D version may be available in Australia, thanks for the info.

Fast Five was a huge leap up in quality, yes. I was a big fan of the first film but for some reason I didn't revisit the series until no. 5 came out. Turns out I didn't miss much. I've seen them all now: Tokyo Drift is okay, but parts 2 and 4 are the flat tyres of the franchise. The two recent entries are much better, similar in quality to Fast Five.

I'm shocked they haven't released any of these in 3D so far in the US or UK. They're action spectaculars. The stunts alone are crying out for eye-popping conversions.

Financially, it's just not needed, especially for markets where the bloom has been off the 3D rose for some time.

Day 1 here in NZ is showing 3D but only in IMAX. Pretty happy about that, I wanna see some car pop-outs lol.

Don't see any 3D showings here in the states...as usual, anti-America sentiment kicks in, and studios give American 3D fans the finger.

Just like Furious 7, there will be a 3D, IMAX 3D and 4DX version internationally.
This came from Wikipedia.

If so, I wonder if we're getting it in 3D since Barbados showed Furious 7 3D for weeks.

Thanks Mercury Seven.

Looking forward to hearing how the 3D in this one is. If it's a medium or strong 3D conversion or not. Disappointing the US got overlooked for the 3D but thankfully most other 3D films are offered in 3D. This falls into the Hunger Games 3D category, along with Maze: Scorch Trials 3D, in other countries only.
