Unnecessary though it is (the 1984 film was very good, and faithful to the source material), I'll still watch it.

The plot of Logan also follows Firestarter to a considerable degree...

A man with a mutant superpower must transport a young girl, who also has a mutant superpower, across the country to safety while they are being chased by secretive government officials who conduct sinister experiments on people. The man's mutant power is slowly diminishing, so he puts his own health in danger to protect the girl. The man and the girl are taken in by a friendly farm family, but deadly violence ensues when the government officials show up at the farm.

I wonder if King adaptations are gonna be all the rage again. Not that they ever went away - there have been TV shows and DTV films in recent years - but we've got two big'uns this year in the form of The Dark Tower and It (although I do think the former will flop).

Still haven't seen the film and the book is one of my lesser favourites. I had to force myself to finish it.

I liked the book, but the movie was absolutely dreadful.

The 1984 movie was dull, dull, dull, so I would not be opposed to a new version of this...at least this time, F/X technology has advanced to the point where Charlie's powers won't consist of flaming cannonballs flying around on wobbly wires.

It's totally being done to capitalize on the success of Stranger Things, though...wouldn't surprise me if they tried to get the actress who played "Eleven" for the lead role.

I have no problem with that and it's the second time I heard of one. I think the last time it was just after Dino passed his studio I remember that they were thinking of remaking Firestarter and Maximum Overdrive.

Midnight Special was basically a remake of Firestarter. Logan was pretty similar too.
