Warner Bros Wonder Woman 1984 - in theaters and on HBO Max December 25, 2020

‘Wonder Woman 2’ Development Confirmed By Zack Snyder
Posted on Monday, May 15th, 2017 by Peter Sciretta

The big push for Wonder Woman is just beginning, but Warner Bros is already developing a sequel to their first female-led superhero film. But Wonder Woman 2 won’t be the next female superhero movie to hit the screen as part of DC’s Extended Universe. Here’s everything we know.

Zack Snyder has revealed that Warner Bros. is already planning a Wonder Woman sequel. The filmmaker apparently made the revelation while promoting Wonder Woman on the red carpet at a Shanghai press event. Arthur Wong, who was in attendance for the presentation, says that Deborah Snyder, co-founder of Cruel and Unusual Films and producer of the DCEU movies, clarified that the next DC female-led superhero movie would be Joss Whedon’s Batgirl. So while Wonder Woman 2 is in development, it’ll be a little while – Batgirl will come out first and that was just announced.

While Wong was clearly present at the event (his Twitter feed is filled with updates and photos from the presentation), we have been unable to confirm this news with Snyder’s representatives. As of publication, our email has not been returned.

Director Patty Jenkins’ film won’t hit theaters until June 2, 2017, and the early box office tracking is projecting anywhere from a $65 to $105 million opening weekend. How well the film does (or doesn’t) do will naturally determine if a Wonder Woman sequel will go into production. Regardless, Gal Gadot will be reprising her role as the Amazonian warrior in the Justice League team-up movie, which is set to hit theaters on November 17, 2017. A sequel to that film was originally announced for June 14, 2019, but it is now undated.

At WonderCon, DC head Geoff Johns was unable to confirm a Wonder Woman 2 as part of the company’s slate of superhero movies. I’m sure if Wonder Woman does well, Warner Bros. could make a sequel announcement as early as San Diego Comic-Con this July. It’s unclear if Patty Jenkins would return for a second film, but it seems likely. I recently spoke to Johns at a DC films-related reception and he teased that he and Jenkins had finally figured out how to bring Wonder Woman’s invisible jet to the big screen, which seems to suggest she’s involved in sequel talks.

And last month, Jenkins expressed her excitement to work on future Wonder Woman films:
“I’m excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero. I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing. Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.”
Wonder Woman will hit theaters on June 2, 2017.

I'm hoping the first ends with the beginning of her involvement with BvS and this sequel will be her returning to her home realm after soooooooo many years away without contact, dealing with estrangement and using the defeat of a threat as her way to be accepted back into "the fold."

Patty Jenkins Wants to Return for Contemporary Wonder Woman 2
By Max Evry on June 2, 2017

Patty Jenkins wants to return for contemporary Wonder Woman 2

With the Wonder Woman movie now in theaters and a hit with critics, expected to pull in more than $90 million domestically this weekend, all thoughts are on one word: SEQUEL. While Gal Gadot will return as Diana in just a few short months for November’s Justice League, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that both she and director Patty Jenkins are contractually signed for Wonder Woman 2, which will be set in the contemporary world as opposed to another period piece.

“What I never want to do is start phoning it in and making things just to show that I can keep my foot in the door and do big movies. I don’t care about that at all,” said Jenkins, who may first film a smaller movie based on her husband Sam Sheridan’s writing and starring Chris Pine, or her long-gestating I Am Superman (no relation to DC Comics) with Ryan Gosling. “I just want to make great movies. And that could come from any direction. It might be a $10 million movie or it might be $200 million movie.”

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot (The Fast and the Furious films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Robin Wright (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Netflix‘s House of Cards), Danny Huston (Clash of the Titans, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Ewen Bremner (Exodus: Gods and Kings, Snowpiercer), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, Nymphomaniac: Vol. I) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman is being produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, with Richard Suckle, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Rebecca Roven serving as executive producers.

Default Wonder Woman 2

Bring your ideas here for the sequel!

It would have been nice if Jenkins does another period piece taking place during World War 2 but she said that the next one would take place in modern world. As Jenkins has refered to Indiana Jones being an influence, Im guessing the next movie would be cool if the movie is like Raiders of the Lost Ark in a sense that it is two archeologists versus each other and trying to stop each other. With Diana Prince being a presence as much as her Wonder Woman character going against antagonist archeologist Cheetah. The great thing about the first Wonder Woman movie is that Jenkins/Gadot have created both identities - Diana Prince and Wonder Woman - to be equally entertaining just like Indiana Jones im archeologist mode or on academic mode, Downey's Tony Stark/Iron Man and Reeve's Kent/Superman. They can work around DC's storyline involving the plant god Urzkartga from the comic books which would have an adventure taking place in Africa. Although it may be too similar to Marvel's Black Panther movie release.

The history behind all the versions of the Invisible Plane is pretty ridiculous (in one version, it's a living alien) and shouldnt have much focus but I do like the idea of Bruce Wayne cameoing in the movie and have him being the one responsible for making the Invisible Plane for Wonder Woman in order for her to get somewhere unnoticed in a brief mission - maybe can be a funny scene where Bruce Wayne has figured out how to keep the plane invisible and cloaked but not her (which is why we can see her sitting in it).

Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot are under contract to do a sequel and currently it looks like a sequel WILL happen!
Patty Jenkins said the sequel will take place in the United States but no one is saying if the sequel will take place post Justice League or another period piece
Personally, I'd like another period piece. There's a lot of time that is currently uncovered between the events of Wonder Woman and Kal El arriving on Earth

This is why any archeology adventure would be cool storyline because it can take place in the past or present time.

The x-factor in the first Wonder Woman movie is the same x-factor in the first Iron Man movie - audiences want to see superheroes kick the asses of real-life villains!!! In first Iron Man movie, Iron Man takes out Islamic terrorists! In Wonder Woman movie, Wonder Woman takes out German soldiers. But all too brief. If these superhero movies wouldnt be so goddamn politically correct, we would have movies of superheroes tearing sh*t up with nazis in the past (Captain America First Avenger kept focus on Hydra rather than nazis, unfortunately) or superheroes tearing sh*t up with Islamic terrorists in the present! It would be awesome if a superhero movie had the balls of having a superhero (or team of superheroes) to actually fix real problems in society as in superheroes kick the asses of rich evil businessmen ruling the world and real terrorist organizations in the world. Bring the 1980s non-political correctness back!

So for Wonder Woman 2, for any scenes of woman vs male sexist traditional a-holes, the current movie trend is that it wouldnt be that politically incorrect to go after sexist old school barbaric African tribes. So an adventure in Africa is more releastic than Wonder Woman going into Syria or Afghanistan which for some reason is politically incorrect in movies nowadays.

Wonder Woman Director Knows Where She Wants a Sequel to Take Place
NICOLE SPERLING
POSTED ON JUNE 4, 2017 AT 12:09PM EDT

After Wonder Woman stormed the box office to a heroic $100.5 million debut, it seems all but likely that a sequel will follow. Nothing official has yet been announced, but director Patty Jenkins is ready to take up the shield and lasso once more.

The 45-year old filmmaker is already thinking ahead to what a second Wonder Woman film might look like. She can’t give away many story details, but does say it would be set in America. “The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right,” she said back in April in an interview with EW. “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”

Warner Bros. declined to comment on its future plans for the franchise, but considering this film’s strong reception from fans and critics alike, betting on the director for a sequel would be the smartest approach. And if that call comes, Jenkins is game to return, having formed a tight bond with Gadot and the filmmaking team behind the movie.

“I’m not a big obligation person when it comes to art. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it,” she said. “Then I had this revelation in the middle of the night: this is your dream cast, you’ve created a character that you love and you can say anything you want in the world right now.”

Jenkins added, “Then I realized that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It’s a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love.”

Wonder Woman is now playing nationwide.

WB finally has a film that is not only a hit with fans but critics so there is no way they don't do something stupid like not let Jenkins come back. They are probably in a board meeting right now trying to figure out how they can sabotage it.

That's a safe bet, but I wouldn't be surprised if Flash gets booted for Sirens.

I wouldn't be surprised if we eat three D.C. Movies in 2019/2020. I think they're starting to find their groove. Female led films will definetly come once a year for DC.

Shazam is listed for April 5. Almost definitely being switched out. However, the week before is an untitled Disney Live Action Fairy Tale.
The Batman is listed for June 14. A week later Toy Story 4. A week after that Transformers 7.
Untitled DC film is listed for November 1. Which is the only one with any sort of buffer.
