Default My BDP S300 woes

I had to return the player after my 3rd movie. The player froze and from then on it made a funny noise when I put in a disc in. I returned it to Circuit City and they said they are getting a bunch of them back (not working). I got another one and I have to admit that both of them are extremely buggy. I understood I would have long load times but maneuvering through menus the player locks up, going from movie to menu it sometimes locks up. I hit the power off button the player just stayed on with the display saying power off. I love the picture but I'm a little concerned about it's operating performance. It's running 3.6 firmware and I ordered an update from Sony.
I sure hope it makes a difference.

Even among "unchanging" models, they continue to tweak them for the life of the product. Look how much PS2 has shrunk.

They try to reduce the manufacturing cost by tweaking the insides. Newer and cheaper chips get developed all the time to do the work of multiple components. I hope that is not happening here and ruining a good machine.

I just bought a BDP-S300 and I love it. Sure the load times are a little longer than I'd like, but it's no PS3. Wifes... they ruin all the fun...

I had my first problem with my bdp-s300 today, during "The Rock" toward the end when all hell breaks lose in that room over why the missile went off target, the movie froze. I Just skipped fwd, skipped back and it was fine. But it was a little reminiscent of my HD-A1 problems (skip, freeze, stutters, audio drop outs, etc).

Something I will be keeping an eye on going forward.

I never had a problem with mine. I updated the firmware before playing even one disc. Just got mine in December from Sonystyle and the FW was ver. 2.2, I immediately updated ti to 3.7. Seems to be working flawlessly.

They are capable of playing the disks enhanced extras. Java crap, pip and so forth. Has nothing to do with the movie. Your S300 will continue to play the movies, but you won't be able to do anything with some of the extra crap.
