It's on my top ten most wanted list!

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but its probably going to be from the same master that was used for the Japanese Blu-ray, which is pretty ropey!

If you can give me a quick timecode to check I can have a look. Had it sitting here for a week, but just not got time to watch it etc right now.

I don't actually own the Japanese disc, but here's a few screen caps:

Do you know roughly when these moments occur?

Since the narrative jumps around, I guess it's impossible to pinpoint where they actually come from

I thought it was a hazy mess when I watched it some time ago (was it last year?). I haven't looked back since, but I remember the train scene in particular looked ugly.

When I have the time, I'll try to skim through it.

Just checked the Japanese Blu-ray again, and to my eyes the whole film was heavily DNR'ed. You'll see it in the first few mins in the opening, and it drags through the whole film. Way too soft & look quite bad.

Also, in the night (or dark) scenes the grains look heavily filtered, giving them the hazy look. You'll see it around 0:21:00 and 0:33:30, for example.

If you don't see any of these in the upcoming UK release, great! Hope a new master has been created & used for this release. I would love to double dip for the better release.

There is also the German disc coming out August 10th, which is probably using the same transfer. Hopefully these two are improvements on the Japanese release.

Did anyone manage to get this today? My local HMV didn't have any copies at all, so I've ordered it from Amazon now.

I found this review. Spoiler alert-here's the only comment on how it looks.

"The high definition here is solid, with no visible signs of ageing, as well as colours being free of fading."

Compared to the DVD I've got of this the picture is considerably brighter in a lot of scenes. Looks a bit crisper overall, but for some scenes the difference between the Blu-ray and the DVD is marginal. BTW no subtitles or trailer (these are both on the DVD)
