Default Superman II problem?

I just watched the Richard Donner Cut of Superman II on BD and noticed a lot of what I will call "flickering". I can't tell if it was due to the BD, the PS3, the TV, the receiver, or the cable. It was really noticable in the "Fortress of Solitude" scenes because they are so bright. Has anyone else noticed this?

I only watched this the other day with no such problems.

On a side note, I though it was great - like watching a new superman film! Donner seems to be still really bitter about the whole affair.

I'm a fan of Superman, but in my opinion all 4 original Superman movies are too cheesy for me. Bryan Singer had an opportunity to do something great with the franchise and just did a remake of the original Superman The Movie. I think he has realized what he has done and will make a much better sequal... The whole Lex Luthor real estate plot had already been done, Superman saved Lois from a helicopter and now a plane, Lex is surrounded by 5 buffoons instead of 2... I could go on and on... The best part of Superman The Movie is the first 30 minutes on the planet Krypton, minus Jor-el's Rolex watch... LOL...

You keep saying he did a "remake", I don't think you know what the term means

A remake means re-producing the film, so he would have started over from the beginning at Krypton

Yeah, it was a sequel to part 2, not a remake.

Are you talking possibly about the crude optical effects(by today's standards) used? Remember the movie was made before the advent of the digital era.

I got payed yesterday and I wanted to cash in on the 14.99 deal BB had so I finally bought this one. I think they should have just released the original Superman II. It was a lot less cheesy. And whoever above me said the first four were too cheesy, I completely agree. And anybody who blames it on the times is ill-informed. When the bus is bowling through the streets in part II, some of the hot wheels that it is running over are so exotic, you wouldn't find them parked on the side of the street in Metropolis. I think I saw a '34 Studebaker in there. That's just bad filmmaking. I liked the first one though.

First all all, shame on you for watching that crappy version of Superman II. (LOL)
That being said, I have the Samsung 67 inch, and I get annoying white flickering in darker scenes. I turn off the DNIe function and the flickering stops, but the sharpness is lost. Try this in your case and see if it helps.
Still an awesome HDTV.
