Question Sony X900E Question

Hey everyone. I'm new to the 4K UHD world and recently picked up the Sony 55X900E 4K UHD television. So far I'm really enjoying it but I do find some aspects of the TV to be a bit confusing. My confusion is mainly about HDR and more specifically how do you know if you're seeing HDR content on screen.

I have both an Xbox One S & PlayStation 4 Pro. I have them connected with HDCP 2.2 compliant HDMI cables and plugged into the correct HDR supporting HDMI ports on the TV. I also have a bunch of 4K UHD Blu-ray films that i've been testing the set out with. On both the XB1S and PS4Pro the setting for display says that the console detects I have 4K and HDR compatibility and I no i'm for sure outputting at 4K. But when I watch a UHD Blu-ray movie I'm not really seeing the "wow" factor people talk about in regards to HDR. I've played around in the TV's picture options and tuned it a few times to what many "pro" reviews for the TV have said would be good settings to set the TV at for "best possible viewing". But I still don't really see the "wow" of HDR. In the stores when I see the 4K HDR demos running on all the TV's (including the one I bought) it seems way more obvious than when I'm watching at home. In fact just last night I was playing around with the HDR settings on the TV while having a UHD Blu-ray playing. My current setting for HDR is set to "AUTO" but I noticed when I went from "Auto" to "Off" that the picture looked exactly the same. I then turned the setting from "Auto" to "HDR10" and did notice a substantial difference as far as dark darks and bright brights but with this setting enabled I noticed that the colors did not look right. At this point I'm starting to get confused and frustrated as I paid quite a bit for this TV and expect the awesome picture quality I saw in store and read about in multiple different reviews. So if anyone could help me out that would be so excellent. Is there a way to see if the TV is outputting HDR while watching HDR content? I know i'm able to see what resolution i'm seeing while watching content but it'd be nice if I'm able to also see if HDR is currently being shown as well.

Thanks
