i own a 2011 f-150. pre-aluminum, lol. and i gotta tell ya, i'm not a fan of the aluminum body. yeah, they're lighter and that equates to better gas mileage. but i'd rather have a tougher truck than a little bit better gas mileage.
aside from that..... i love my truck. i have the supercrew and i use the hell out of it as much as i can. there is ALWAYS something in the bed and/or the back seat floor. but when i need to, i can carry 4 other adults with ease. i have a friend who is 6'4" and he can sit in the back seat, behind my seat (i'm 6'1") and not be cramped. he said he's comfortable sitting back there. and i love being able to go to the hardware store and throwing all kinds of stuff in it without having to worry about overloading it (to an extent, lol). and i can get pretty good gas mileage in it, too. it has a big tank, 26 gallons, so it takes a bit to fill it up from empty. but when i do, i can get pretty close to 500 miles from a tank. mine has the 5.0 with the two package (minus the tow mirrors) so i could tow my trailer without worrying about my transmission. and on that note, it has the 6-speed tranny. and everyone that rides in my truck for the first time (or sometimes for the fifth or sixth) always says how smooth it rides. but if you're thinking of getting one, i'd suggest driving both the 2- and 4-wheel drive versions. i wish i'd gotten the 4, but i'm happy with my 2-wheel drive....for now, lol. i've been saying that when it's time for me to get a new one, i may step it up a notch and get the 250 4x4. and i may even go diesel for the extra torque, towing capacity, and fuel economy. yes, i know that gasoline-powered vehicles have come a long way and are closing the gap to diesel-powered vehicles, but there's still a gap; and i'll take it. |

I am a huge fan of Ford. I don't have one of those beauties yet (truck) but I hope to in the next 1-2 years. You can definitely find some deals and a get a nice truck between $30-40,000. Part of me wants to go a F250, but I know I only need a F150. Short bed is the popular and common option on the road, but I'd want a standard bed.

You have to hit the sales, 20% of msrp is a good point to reach when looking, sometimes you can squeeze a little more out of the dealers.
As for fords, well I'm a GM guy but I can admit the fords are nice. I still like my sierra all terrain better then the ford product not to mention the 6.2 is the best gas engine of all the makes currently imo. ![]() |
