Diskino will release Zhang Yimou's Red Sorghum on blu-ray as part of WCL collection.

2K restoration done by Xi'an Film Studio. Limited to 800 sets. Estimated Release Date: July 28th

... except they keep releasing the ones I don't care about.

I'd much rather see "The Road Home," "Not One Less" and "Happy Times" (with the original ending restored). Hell, I'd even like "Keep Cool," which has never even had an English friendly DVD (to my knowledge).

I hope that means a Western-friendly version is not a long way off. That film has never received even a decent DVD version here, let alone a Blu-ray one.

Lack of proper HD masters, without decent film materials and unreasonably high charge for copyrights are reasons why these films can't get a blu-ray (even DVD) release in mainland China.
