20th Century Fox Firefly: The Complete Series (2002) (15th Anniversary Edition)

According to VideoETA, Fox will be re-releasing Firefly in a new 15th Anniversary edition. No word on whether the show has been remastered in any way, but that's probably unlikely. Hard to believe it's been 15 years already

If it's just fluff with a repackage of discs then I'll pass.

I never got around to getting the show on BD, so I'll likely get this one. I like the design of the slipcase.

US version.

I have seen the series and film a million times but wasn't "I aim to misbehave" from Serenity?

I bough the CA version for about $15 since it was cheaper than the US set at the time. It's identical save for some FR text on the cover.

It's a really cool cover, but I'll need more for a double-dip.

IMO don't buy this if you're a fan of the show. you're just giving more money to FOX.

I bought the UK set about a month ago so I'll just stick with that.

Unless it's been remastered I'll pass, especially since I just finished re-watching it last weekend.

The current set has a pretty good transfer of the film elements. They won't but it be nice if they went back and had the original special effects team redo the SD CGI sequences for HD. Also, since this reeks of a repackage they should at least meet fans in the middle and create a retrospective doc that is allowed to be critical of FOX and the handling of the series and show the rise of the fandom.

The current edition...

...is out of print. If you want Firefly, the new one is the only affordable option.

The new packaging is all shiny and whatnot but I'm not going to get it just for that, it's been so long so they should have had some new bonus content.

I actually prefer the artwork of the original anyway.

They also announced a 20th Anniversary set for Buffy, although only on DVD . I doubt the actual discs will be any different, but I guess we can hope for more commentaries and featurettes...

I would double dip if this has new extras and/or a remaster.

I just finished watching the whole series in Blu-ray on my 50 inch plasma, and I was very impressed with the rendering of the special effects. I wasn't expecting anything near that high of a quality for a television series of its vintage.

I bought the BD a while ago when it was bundled with the movie as an Amazon Deal of the Day. I hadn't seen it before but I got it because everyone was raving over it and it was a good price. I just don't understand the hype. It failed to hold my interest.

Or everyone buy it and put it in FOX's face that they canceled something special that could have made them a lot more money.
