I have a problem with my Game of Thrones season 1 BD set.
Discs 2 and 4 will not play on my living room Sony BDP-S470. They freeze and I have to unplug the power, turn it back on and eject the discs immediately. I then go to my bedroom player JVC XV-BP11 and the discs will play fine. After this, I can return to downstairs to my Sony and the discs will play then. Does anyone have a similar problem? Any suggestions to fix this problem? |

It was extremely difficult to update the damn Sony BDP-S470. This machine would not recognize any USB drive by SanDisk not even my WD Passport. I bought a Sony USB thinking it only prefers its own brand. Did not detect that either.
I had to take it upstairs and go through the hassle of disconnecting my computer from the back to use the Ethernet cable. That did the trick! (I think). The update apparently happened automatically yet it still displays the same old M04.R.788 firmware version. Did this thing do anything? I still have the same problem with my Game of Thrones season 1. However I can now watch King Arthur: Legend of the Sword without the unsynchronized sound problem. This was the final reason why I absolutely needed the update in order to watch new releases. I want to report that I still had an odd problem where the sound muted for a second at about 27 minutes into the movie. |

May not be a problem with your discs. I had some problems watching some of the Game of Thrones discs as well. I imported the steelbooks from Amazon.uk, and would get unrecognized disc on several of the discs in several of the seasons. On an older Sony player, unsure of the model. Firmware was up to date. I noticed this more when the machine was getting heavier use. It would play all the episodes on a disc fine, then pop in the next disc, and it was unrecognized. Pop the previous disc (the one I just got done playing) and that was unrecognized. Pop in a dvd and it would play fine. Give the player a rest, and it would play that second blue ray just fine. I pretty much isolated the problem to the player, and have a brand new player still in the box ready to go. Of course, once I bought the new player, the existing one hasn't acted up since.
