Default Friday the 13th's- ever on BD??

I have seen some previous threads about this, but with no ideas. Any of the first 4 in the series would be awesome. I think New Line owns them all and now that they have dipped into the world of BD, could it be long??

Sorry Paramount still owns the rights to them up until "Jason Goes to Hell". New Line owns the rights for that one, Jason X, and Freddy Vs. Jason.

Yeah, that is right, thanks for the refresh. I will say though, that if they were to release those movies on HD???, I would be very tempted to turn to the dark side.....

If you wait just a bit longer, there won't be a dark side. Stay blu!

Paramount essentially used Jason as a prostitute in the 80s and then kicked him to the curb. Paramount's transfers of Friday the 13th on DVD were absolutely horrible, and they delivered no special features or extras. Only after literally YEARS of lobbying by Friday the 13th fans (like myself) did Paramount release a box set with some slightly upgraded sound and extras. If I'm not mistaken, the original release of Friday the 13th Part 1 on DVD only had Mono sound. Talk about despicable.......

These are the types of releases that won't come for a while. Friday the 13th is one of those titles that is DEEP in the catalog and even more so risks being a poor upgrade. I'd suspect the New Line produced titles will see the light of day on HDM first, although Paramount might surprise me and come out with something to coincide with the "Friday the 13th" remake due in Feb. 2009.

Even yet, as a huge fan, two things would have to happen for me to re-purchase the films:
1) Paramount would have to be Blu supporting
2) They would have to do 10X more justice to the discs than they ever showed with DVD

Paramount owns the first 8, Friday the 13ths. It sucks, I know. I am a huge horror fan, with all the biggest horror icons on DVD. I own two Nightmare on Elm street collections, two of all Friday the 13ths and JASONs, all the Halloweens, Childs play and etc..... on DVD. Please New Line at least put the Nightmare on Elm street collection on Blu with Freddy vs. Jason, Jason X, and Jason goes to Hell. I will purchase them on day one. I can not wait for the Friday the 13th remake, I know it will be on Blu-ray.

Uh, no it won't. Its being produced by both New Line and Paramount, so I figure unless HD-DVD is completely gone or Paramount is neutral/blu exclusive then it probably won't make it onto either HD format. No idea though.

I don't think old horror movies are a priority on studios lists for movies to transfer to HD, although I would live to see stuff like Black Christmas, Pscyho, NoES, Ft13th, Re-Animator etc etc on blu.

Default Jason Goes To Hell

I thought New Lines first Jason movie Jason Goes to Hell was terrible the first time I scene it.What was up with Jasons heart invading peoples body?It was like The Hidden and Friday The 13th rolled into one.But Kane Hodder did a great job as Jason. Jason X was mutch better thoe. Freddy VS Jason was pretty good too.
Yeah Paramount did a poor job releasing the first 8 Friday The 13th movies on DVD.5-8 had terrible art work for DVD covers.I dont understand why Paramount swiched the cover art? Since they used original artwork for part 1-4. The box set they did was pretty poor too.But it was nice that they threw in some interviews with some of the stars from Friday. The interview with Cory Feldman about Friday 4 and 5 was nice. I wish Anchor Bay or New Line had the rights to Friday The 13th part 1-8 as I'm sure they would of done alot better job then what Paramount did.

I love the Friday the 13th films, but the only ones I'd like to have in HD would be parts 3 and 4. Those two were my favorites.

When Paramount goes Blu, hopefully they will release the uncut versions of the F13 films that the fans have been demanding for years.
