I bet Universal announces at least neutrality at CES. They won't go exclusive right away.

Universal. If their contract is already up and they have been checking out Blu-ray factories, they jump next. And quickly. Prolly, Paramount jumps out of their contract soon after with the escape clause.

Down they go, one, two, three....

We all know Paramount screwed themselves over by taking that $150 million and going HD-DVD exclusive. Those b#%#@es are under contract. LOLOLOLOL. They screwed themselves. I'm so proud of them.

I don't know, Universal maybe I can see a convoy of MS armored cars driving all over bribing anyone in sight for some reason.

Hard to tell. Maybe both.

I'm sure that both studios have legal contracts where you would have certain criteria that would have to be met to execute an out clause or clauses.

So really it's just a matter of time since BD is about to blow off the planet with Warner as yet another exclusive.

Maybe Penton is waiting on his 1,000th post to hint something about Universal!

I think Paramount will first. As any lawyer worth his weight who made the initial deal with HD DVD would have had clauses that gave Paramount an out if an event just like this happened.

I say Paramount.

After seeing that information on the CNBC/Universal CES website, I would be _very_ inclined to believe that Universal will be next and really soon.

Paramount might find themselves out 'in the wind' on this whole thing locked down by contracts for a measly $650 million total. Truth be told, if Paramount can't get out from under their contract to Toshiba and the Live contract with Microsoft... Well, they are _really_ screwed and we may see another major studio go bye bye soon. Especially if the rumors about Apple announcing for Blu-ray at Macworld hold true. This would make iTunes a defacto standard yet again for HD downloading... Not Live. Paramount will die.

If I were Viacom, I'd be crapping bricks right now and scrambbling to find _anything_ I could hold onto to stay afloat until the contract ends or a way out.
